Oakmaster
How often should you re-waxoyl a chassis / bulkhead etc.? Vehicle was waxoyled from new, used daily on country lanes Would you clean the old coating off, or re-coat on top?
Maverik
I generally do mine every two years, but depends on what it looks like really, give it a good blast with a pressure washer then scrap anything which looks dubious then re-coat.
neil110
I do mine every couple of years and thin it about 50/50 with white spirit to make it nice and easy to spray, plus it flows much better and softens the existing layer thus helping the new application to stick

As above however I don't thin it with white spirit I warm it up , put the can in a bucket of hot water and keep topping up the hot water ,makes it easier to spray on without thinning it and helps it search better .give the can a good shake before pouring into your sprayer . There was a recent thread on here about alternatives to Waxoyl but if you already have a heavy coating you are probably best sticking with it , just make sure you don't apply it over water or muck , effectively sealing the moisture in !
