Hybrid_From_Hell
Righty Ho Porn Fans I have had a cghance to see WTF I Have really bought List is as follows Massively tweaked Block, defo 5.2 - needs 8 x new liners prob will go top hat Cam H218 series which is half road sensible / sod all wear - so will stay as will lifdters and rocker train ARP Head studs set and inlet stud set - will stay Mentally ported heads, some new guides needed plus valve clean up and rebuild Double springs on all Valves all OK Billet machined and balanced crank, regrind not needed will look at a polish H Section Arrow rods and Omega 94.05 Race spec short skirt Pistions - all fine need new rings Front cover and modified pump + oil catch tank - as is after clean Sump mit special baffles - as is after clean Triple Plenum inlet plus HUGE trumpets and modified inlet - as is via clean Odd Bigger injectors - need to identify Modified baffled sump / tweaked oil pick up - stays after clean Duplex roller chain and solid gear timing set up - as is after clean Will replace Mains and Big ends etc and Bolts and cross bolts New liners plateaux honed for new rings on pistios and wuill have assembley dynamicallty rebalanced with new flywheel etc assembly, heads tweaked with new guides etc and about 300 litres of cleaner everywhere Inlet / trumpet / triple plenum etc needs hgfe clean up and resetting All in all not bad at all Having now spoken to several people - Mattersati racers being rear engined create loads of dust dirt and contamination which the rear end then has to suck in, filtration is a huge issue so wear on bores in normal since its build in 2004 this has already been "Refreshed" once as JE says it This time it wil be 'front engined' and loved and oil / air filer changed so this won't be a problem as per racer - however - going backwards through a hedge at speed squeeling is a likley prob maybe The build commences Monday with call to reliner compnany Nige

McS Junior
Once I eventually build something I think it would be interesting to get a dyno day sorted out as there's lots of people who throw around very large figures and it would be interesting to see how they compare on the same dyno.... Well, count us in, we'll bring some toys along.... but by the time you're at that stage Will I'll probably be dead... Ross

Hybrid_From_Hell
Dyno Day Oh yes I will be up for that - dependant on where the location is Just give me some time to Re-Build it and get it sorted, I'm not talking in terms time wise of "Warnes" - just give me a few "Months" Nige

Hybrid_From_Hell
Erm Block is off to Mr Eales Tommorrow Will be 4-5 weeks so I am saving like mad The shopping List is : Relinered x 8 with TOP Hat Liners and Plateaux Honed New Rings to Suit Omega Pistons New Cam Bearings New Crank Big Ends and Mains Bearings - Cleveite Flavour And Breathe out It has started, tomm being Boxed to be courriered up to JED So, while waiting giant clean up of everything remaining and the Heads to rebuild I looked at various companies for a relinering service, I did like the idea of THL and after a chat with John he agrred he would do thjis, I then decided that as he has been so helpful to me over the years and he was the guy who built designed and did this engine from scratch, why would or could anyone else be better ? Well, thats me logic Nige

will_warne
Yes, yes, I know it has taken a while... I've got a whole long list of excuses but you don't want to hear them. I also think it's interesting that very few of the people who took the tiddle and said they'd build a car before me have actually managed. I think RogueVouge is actually the only one... Still, I'm hoping it will be worth the time, money, sweat, blood, tears etc I've put into it. In any case it should make some 'healthy' numbers on the dyno! I may do my own engine porn build up soon.....

Hybrid_From_Hell
Blocks gone today to 'Mr E' for a re-linering - with new top hats plateaux honed bores and new cam bearing, chem clean and general Eales Fettle - about 5 weeks before done I looked at other companies, but in the end decided that who could do a better job than the guy who built it, from a long chat John has agreed to THL it, so all I need to do is save like **** over next 5 weeks For those that are wondering Liners Big End Shells Mains shells, cam bearingS chem clean and face on decking plateaux honing New Rings set etc is £1100 + Vat +/- final bill when it hits me. So no, not cheap, but has to be done. John said many of these engines come back to him 1 or 2 year intervals for 'refreshes', so THL not worth the extra, but for me as a daily manic bottom twitching 'daily mad as a mad thing driver' and non comp safari motor the THL may be a longer term benefit so thats whats going it to it, work on the heads starts this weekend erm .... "Yippee do ?? Nige
landroversforever
Have to cut out feeding the Mrs At least you can't drive the 90 and use all the fuel
need4speed
£1100 + sounds like a lot of money Nige, but i reckon thats actually a very reasonable quote for the amount of work being done. You defo did the right thing shelling out for the THL's.
