karlos01
it is only on the edis so it could be that? but mine does sound pants compared to that toyota jobbie
FridgeFreezer
If it's *only* on EDIS then te timing will be in limp-home mode fixed at 10deg.
karlos01
yes that is what i was refering to. its not got the smoothness like that toyota v8 so until i wire in the MJ i think it will run like that
FridgeFreezer
The Rover 8 will never sound as smooth as more modern lumps, partly due to age of design but also due to the firing order being different than "normal" V8's.
karlos01
has it got an odd sequence or something like that? do you think it sounds relatively normal in that case?
Bowie69
Strange, that Yota V8 has the same firing order as a RV8 I still think, at idle, which is ~ 10 BTDC anyways, it shouldn't sound like that. It takes 5 minutes to check the plug leads are in the right place, I would do that first if I were you....
FridgeFreezer
RV8 is different to things like the Chevy / LS engines hence why they're that much worse in water (cross-firing is easier on a Rover) and why they don't have quite the same sound (that and being half the displacement, natch)
Hybrid_From_Hell
Engine defo does not sound great but is that headers / not a full zorst ? If so Rover V8 need a full system and back pressure and sound like **** if run on Y piece or just manifolds ? Although its a long time since I had Megajolt, seemed to remember a Vacumn hose for advance ? Nige
FridgeFreezer
You can build MJ for TPS and/or MAP sensor operation.
karlos01
its straight out of the manifolds at the mo. it was a shakedown to see if it actually worked before i smashed it to pieces
