Shaun
I've just found out about these side protection bars, has anyone fitted these yet. They are basically steps which are at the same level, not below the plastic trim below the doors(aka LandRover variants),and therefore shouldn't reduce ground clearance like others do.They're are also strong enough to act like rock sliders and wide enough to offer similar protection to nerfbars(this observed from pictures in ARB catalogue) I'm planning on fitting them to a 2"lifted Disco 2.It looks like you could also jack from them as well, although this to be confirmed. Any experience with these would be appreciated. Cheers Shaun UAE
Sharky
Welcome aboard Shaun. Do they have these at ARB in AD or are you getting them from ICON?
DiscoV8
Shaun, I have had these bars on my series 1 and now have them on my series 2. I have found that they hold there own very well and have saved the sills on mine many a time without losing clearance. Other positives is they stop alot of stones flying up and hitting the side of the vehicle. They also make a good area to scrape mud off your boots before getting back in
Shaun
Hi Sharky, yes ARB in AD,ICON would probably produce something similar but with an ARB sticker on perhaps they stand a better chance of getting registered with the plod. Thanks Disco V8, have you jacked against them ,Hi-lift or air jack? Do they fit without modification? Re mud, we don't get often here, but useful for knocking out sand Cheers Shaun
DiscoV8
They bolt straight onto the chassis, I have never jacked from them but I have used them as sliders many a time B)

Redback
I went for these babies just what i liked, these other ones i found from Scorpion Racing in the UK look really good. Scorpion Racing in the protection section.
Shaun
Hi Guys Well i went for the ARB ones. However ARB supplied the wrong nuts and probably should have supplied longer bolts , which i will source locally. Not tried them in the desert yet.A post on another forum ( In Aus) reckoned they might be a bit weak for jacking , but I think they have potential for reinforcing if that becomes necessary. I have looked at the Discoparts one previously but the only problem is shipping them to the UAE from the UK,this costs more than the sliders them selves!!Same applies to Scorpion. So a no brainer really as the ARB ones are available locally. Sharky if you reading this there is one set left at ARB AD,your welcome to check mine out anytime Regards Shaun Dubai
