ejparrott
Apparently railways can still buy proper Creosote too. Our (miniature) railway had to swap to Creo-cote....its rubbish!! Looking to investigate whether we can buy the proper stuff under the 'railway' exemption clause
CwazyWabbit
Says a lot doesn't it really, so basically if you DIY the job then legally you have to let it rot.
jbs
The Mole valley farmers near me sell creosote and its naff derivative creocote too, I've never had any probs buying it from there as they always ask If I'm a fencing contractor and of course my answer Is always yes John
Gazzar
Yeah... 'CreoCote', which is water-based..... and useless :x Damn, That's the stuff I've got - I've been topping up the sleepers with it.
Retroanaconda
Well this weekend has been fairly productive. My dad was up to visit and since the weather was good we got on with the shed. All the cladding has been completed and now creosote applied too. On top of that we managed to get the roof wrapped with the leftover plastic sheeting, which will make it watertight until such a time as I get around to doing the roof sheeting. This could even be next spring now if need be. Some pics in no particular order:
CwazyWabbit
Just a little word of warning, I did a similar thing to mine (the plastic on the roof), it leaked a little and the wood went mouldy quite quickly ....... so don't leave it too long before finishing the roof properly. CwazyWabbit
It might also sweat in the heat ...... oh no need to worry about that either
CwazyWabbit
For those that don't know yet James' new workshop has been destroyed in the storm I don't suppose anyone nearby could help him out a bit?

CwazyWabbit
I believe it was 100mph wind through the doorway that sent it up like a kite as James put it. Ripped the fixings out of the slab.
Gazzar
Devastation. I'm very sorry to see that. I was enjoying the build, stealing ideas for mine. You must be heart broken. When you've recovered your spirits, please take some positives= 1) The roof never distorted - that is a testament to your skills. 2) No one got physically hurt. 3) The land rover wasn't in the shed. Wishing you the best, and very much looking forward to the rebuild. G.
