Eightpot
As per title really - struggling to find an answer via google, reason for asking is I've just fitted a new cam in one and as soon as the engine was turned over it's snapped a new timing chain and bust the bottom sprocket. Cam spins fine still, bottom end spins fine still - wondering if I managed to fit the cam 180 out but it was my understanding these are non-interference engines?? geoffbeaumont
Hi Eightpot, Yes, they are interference.
garrycol
As said - definitely an interference engine. When assembling if No1 piston is at TDC and the marks on the cam chain cogs aligned, the valve timing should be right. Garry
Eightpot
Wierd, must have got the alignment wrong first time round, either that or some foreign object got in the way - bottom sprocket shattered and a brand new chain sheared in half, just from being spun on the starter. Cam still spins ok and nothing strange going on with rocker action or valve movement so hopefully got away with it..
