Fuel pipe jointing compound

This is actually not LR related but on a dumper with a lister TS3 engine. Diesel fuel. Equally I have a fuel pipe to the lift pump of my 90 which is also leaking so could be the same thing.

I have a leak on an injector pipe which I suspect is due to the flange on the end being slightly distorted (has been off many times over the years due to people running the thing out of diesel!)

I can buy a new pipe, but at £30 I would rather try something cheap and dirty first. A little seepage is no real problem on a dumper. Would a small smear of hylomar blue be the answer to this?
