bishbosh
Can I ask for a dimension please? I am in the middle of fabricating my own rock / tree sliders and cannot decide how far to make the tree slider tube stick out from the body. Can you measure how far your tree sliders stick out from the side of the vehicle? If you could measure from the skin of the drivers door out horizontally to the outermost face of the tube and post up here that would be marvellous Thanks in advance
crwoody
Mine are about 90mm or 3½ inches in old money. Just big enough to do the job and to use as a step, not too big to get in the way.
lrfarmer
mine are only about 1/2inch when i get time i'd like to put some deflecting bits on the ends
bishbosh
They sound more like plain rock sliders - just a bit of box section? I am interested in tree sliders with a tubular extension
Hybrid_From_Hell
Mr Bish, So you mean the ones at sills height, or the ones half way up the doors hieght ? Anyway, re the ones at sill height I made a HUGE Mistake on mine making them not stick out enough, Mr Wightmans on Piggies were very "Sticky Outey" and when I mentioned it a long time ago his reply was measure the width of the 2x front wheels then make the sliders the same / tad smaller width maybe, but if the front wheels don't fit through the gap whats the prob with siders, plus the more sticky outey the more they keep trees etc off the bodywork, Mine are therefore somewhere on the list opf things to tweak Nige
bishbosh
Thanks Nige. I am on about the ones at sill height. I had the same thought about making theme the same width as the front axle. Unfortunately, I don't have my "competition" ( ) wheels and tires on yet.... Time to put some string on the tyres then!
bishbosh
Well, mine are now this sticky outy: I put my winchrope across the middle of the tyres and measured the gap, then made the sliders slightly wider as my off road tyres (collecting tomorrow ) are wider. Tailored the ends to fit the wheelarch spats: and added some grippy bits for slippery boots and short people
stewy1984
they look really good, and look to be about the same as mine (sorry never got a chance to measure mine). I did find on my first winch even last month. going through tight tree's that they stuck out abit to far and stopped me or more than likely it was my poor driving lol. had to just put foot down and bash through. but better than denting the body work.
