Magnecor Leads for MegaSquirt & Megajolt Installs

A few peeps have asked me to add onto the forum the Magnecor lead lengths I had made.

Heres a copy of the order I sent them, with the full specs and lengths

These fit the coil packs when mounted on my coil pack mount, which Landy Andy is copying sorry evolving as per the EDIS8 thread...

Maybe this could be a thread for useful extra info for Megasquirt and Megajolt installs ?

If so add to it and TC will do the honours.

Nice bracket that. At the moment my coil packs are temporarily zip-tied to a pipe on the rocker cover and i have got my existing leads to work using 'pin extensions' from a set up old Zetec leads from trigger-wheels.com.

I'm running MSnS wasted spark (no EDIS) (previously ran Weber 500 carb, coil+dizzy)

I plan to make a coil pack bracket to bolt onto the rear of the heads (behind the plenum) and take lead measurements from there.

The VR bracket in the pic needed some trimming to clear the power steering belt

My triggerwheel settings in Megatune:

Set the timing to static last night and found it was 7 degrees too retarded  (I had the VR sensor centred as best i could on the 5th tooth so don't understand why it's this far out). I'll try swapping the polarity of the VR sensor just incase. (I wired it as described in the MSnS manual)

Luckily MS can correct for this in software :)

This is only it's 2nd day running so still tweaking. Runs so smooth on MS and the VE autotune in Megatune is just awesome :i-m_so_happy:

I'll post some more photos this afternoon, it's very much a temporary setup with chop-blocks and zip-ties so is not really drivable yet, i wanted to make sure my wiring was right before committing to solder & heatshrink!

Next job is tidying up the wiring and fitting the MS ECU in a cubby box (figured this would be the dryest place).

Hoss, I ditched the spark map I was running and used the Excel calculator floating about, then did some more tweaking around idle and testing

Definitely better, seems a lot crisper at idle better response.

I'd be interested in what maps other folk are running

Well I've searched and searched but can't find it - someone had a ste of custom leads made up very nicely but cheaper than magnecors, and I'm jiggered if I can remember who it was and what the company was called :( anyone help?

Was it this you were after?

I had a set of Mallorys in Gemima? They were cheaper than Magnecors and very good, but not very tidy as I guessed at the lengths I'd need months before doing the installation, and hadn't got round to tidying up when I sold her. They came from Lund Engines (good price, but they did take quite a while and a few chasing phone calls).

I know this is an old thread but I'd like to add the following:

I think Magnecor (UK) must have learned something recently,

Called them yesterday for a quote for a set of custom leads for my squirted V8, spoke to a very knowledgeable chap called Phil (think he's the MD)

Was quoted quite a spendy price but when I asked when I could have them he said "Ehm... tomorrow?"

Order placed! :i-m_so_happy:

I have no connection with said company in any way, just thought I'd share my experience of good service.

Mick.
