Discomikey's LT77 LT230 into 88" series thread

Recommended Posts

I've started working on The 109 today, repairing the seatbox back to series configuration, refitting red and yellow knobs, putting back the series tunnel. It's not going to be much different, like I said before, you already did exactly what I was thinking, but I'll post up my piccies when I'm done.

Mikey, when it's convert to 2wd/4wd instead of difflock/open diff, which side is the equivalent to difflock? I need to make sure I make my linkage up so that 2wd is still yellow up and 4wd yellow down! I'm assuming that's how you've set yours up?

yes, thats how i have mine set up. looking from above, the mechanism (IIRC) rotates clockwise to lock and anticlockwise to unlock (2WD) i had to make my own diff lock cam as the one was missing from the transfer box, however i have fitted it rotated round to almost opposite what it should be if that makes sense, to convert forwards movement to unlocked, and backwards movement to locked.

I hope i have made that seem clear.

For mine the rear is a shortened 109 prop, the front will need to be lengthened, when I get round to doing the 2wd/4wd conversion on the LT230. I've not noticed any balance issues. Long term I'll likely take them to a prop specialist, or she'll need new ones at some point anyway.

Likewise my rear is a shortened 88" rear prop. I shortened it myself using lathe and welder. Many miles Complete since ann zero signs of prop imbalance even at 80+mph

Front will be a standard prop mounted to an intermediate shaft which will attach to the front output via a 300 tdi style rubber donut and be supported by a range rover or discovery 4 rear props haft support bearing.
