  4. Thanks Steve ๐Ÿ™‚ Yeah, I'm a pretty pragmatic sort and live by the one day at a time/ what will be will be approach. I'll just have to come to terms with the new me much as I did after the accident I had 30 years ago. Not sure why I felt the need to spill it all last night, but a lot of us have been here a long time, and its good to share with friends right ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I had another Covid swab at the local drive through today, standard procedure for anyone having hospital treatment - in my case chemo on Tuesday. As I kept the A&M team briefed throughout so will now let you all know that I was discharged from hospital a couple of weeks or so ago after being in for nearly a month. I self admitted suffering from severe stomach pains and unable to keep any food or drink down. The initial diagnosis was bleak, very bleak. However after more investigations, tests etc they came up with a treatment plan that if successful may, may provide a less bleak outlo

  9. To answer your question, yes you would be able to charge it on public chargers. Theyโ€™ve even just reverse engineered the CCS charger, so you can fast charge 50-125kwh dc charge at public chargers that support this. So 80% charge in about 25-60 minutes. Depending on the rate. โ€˜Timing wise, itโ€™s probably wise to wait 2-4 years, as thereโ€™s so many EVโ€™s coming to market in the next 12 months that availability of battery packs, AC Motors, inverters etc will increase from accident damaged cars and prices will come done. The packs and motors are getting more efficient every year too, the la

  10. There is a learning curve around charging, but also the offerings have changed over the past 3 / 4 years. I have had my EV since 2018 and quickly settled on using the Instavolt network. The big advantage is payment via the standard Debit or Credit card. The value is always small compared to paying for drinks, food, etc, so you don't need to use a PIN. There may be other networks that use your standard card, but I don't know of them, Instavolt works for me. If I'm planning a trip that exceeds the range of the vehicle I go on Zapmap, apply the filter that just shows the Instavolt networ

  12. Um, they don't. Unless it's inside the sealed driver box but usually fans need some air flow to operate so that would be just plain stupid! Well they've only been on for 3 months but the vehicle does live outside in Wales at the moment but has been through a river a couple of times during that period with the LEDs on. They were on constantly for 12h during that 600 mile trip and haven't suffered from overheating. Time will tell in the future how long they last but something that's put me off other LEDs (apart from their cost) is that if one goes you're scuppered. At least with the

  13. I've found quality of the lenses can make a big difference with halogen (or LED bulbs). Running the same bulbs in different housings has shown to make a lot of difference to how well they light up the road ahead. Halogen can be made to wor ok, but may need to ensure you are getting good voltage and the right bulb selection. Having super bright additional lights (LED bar, etc) just compounds the problem, as they knacker your night vision when you drop to dip. However, even on a good dip setup I had a triple HID spotlight setup and it was too much when dropping down to dip. You'd think you'

  15. My old man had to go in recently after an xray for something else showed up a massive tumor covering quite a few necessary bits. Treatment was actually pretty amazing and he seems fine now. Hard work and not something you'd want to trade places for, but the time passes quickly and the future looks better. Our flights finally got cancelled today so my safari trip and more importantly reunion with my lovely S2a is punted off to another future but can't really moan, maybe I'll put the tent up, have a bbq and paint spots on the cat and not grumble about the heat ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. ^^ Another old piccy of my set-up. ^^ The standard complaints with the leafer-heater seem to revolve around an old and restricted heater-matrix, a new one helps a lot. Made worse by the asthmatic airflow. The coiler set-up goes some way to solving this, yet LR heaters still aren't famous for their grunt. There's two types of coiler heater-matrix. Be sure to fit the straight-pipe variant. Bit warm for August Bank Holiday...
