  1. Sorry to hear that some of you are facing some serious issues, but it does highlight how trivial the Covid related restrictions and wearing a mask is by comparison. Not so easy for those losing work and facing financial issues as result, but health is the most important asset you can have.

  2. My 75 year old Portuguese neighbour has been a panel beater all of his life, he threw my fancy purpose bought tool aside and used a flat headed screw driver, both done in 15 minutes! Best if you have two people, one on the inside to stop the glass falling in and offering guidance etc

  3. My main and aux batteries have there positive connected via an isolator for an internal jump start facility, and so when you have big loads running (winch or inverter) both alternators are supplying.

  4. Problem solved - new thermostat and its bang on 88/89C. The old one cant have been opening I think - this one I can see the temperature dip again when it opens up.

  5. Lol. Having thought about this more ....as i was out last night driving in heavy rain I think the issue is compounded by going from huge white lit road clear as anything...down to dip only and a sort of yellow glow vs bright white. I probably woukd nit have been travelling a quick as I was (which was not that gast) if I only had dip and main ....the LED light bars sort of give a over confidence / ability to see clearly and more so . I think if I go LED the switching from light bar to dip only will be less of a shock if the dip is not just a bit better buy the white

  7. Just for info, ECE Regulations are not European standards. ECE Regulations are United Nations Regulations which are adopted/accepted into legal requirements by many countries and territories all over the world including the European Union and the United Kingdom. ECE Regulation compliance is denoted by the marking of an E together with relevant approval numbers on relevant approved components. Hope this helps. Regards, Diff.

  8. I think existing standards will be accepted as the new 'UK' standards, so figs will still be given. We just in theory can overrule / make our own standards up as well...

  9. Nige - a (cheaper) alternative to try is perhaps the Classic Car LEDs H4 bulbs. https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/collections/headlight-led-bulbs/products/latest-led-headlights-h4-philips-z-es-hi-lo-beam-conversion-9-32v?variant=8239030763615 There's no definitive answer I think on their E marking but I've recently fitted some (without headlight loom upgrades) and the difference is stark. It's not the placebo effect of whiter light but the light is comparable to the BiXenons I had in my 322, it's a very well defined and uniform pattern. Mine went through an MOT immediately after

  10. I've found quality of the lenses can make a big difference with halogen (or LED bulbs). Running the same bulbs in different housings has shown to make a lot of difference to how well they light up the road ahead. Halogen can be made to wor ok, but may need to ensure you are getting good voltage and the right bulb selection. Having super bright additional lights (LED bar, etc) just compounds the problem, as they knacker your night vision when you drop to dip. However, even on a good dip setup I had a triple HID spotlight setup and it was too much when dropping down to dip. You'd think you'

  11. My old man had to go in recently after an xray for something else showed up a massive tumor covering quite a few necessary bits. Treatment was actually pretty amazing and he seems fine now. Hard work and not something you'd want to trade places for, but the time passes quickly and the future looks better. Our flights finally got cancelled today so my safari trip and more importantly reunion with my lovely S2a is punted off to another future but can't really moan, maybe I'll put the tent up, have a bbq and paint spots on the cat and not grumble about the heat 🙂

  12. Thanks Steve 🙂 Yeah, I'm a pretty pragmatic sort and live by the one day at a time/ what will be will be approach. I'll just have to come to terms with the new me much as I did after the accident I had 30 years ago. Not sure why I felt the need to spill it all last night, but a lot of us have been here a long time, and its good to share with friends right 🙂

  13. Cheers for that. Oddly, I have found myself turning down work, in the vague hope that I can set up as a 4WD instructor. There is some demand here for people who can certify their staff so that they can assume they are "safe". That sounds cynical but the current culture is that NZQA certificates + orange jackets = safety (rather than engaging brains). I see a real opportunity for a course that provides the certificate and really teaches people at the same time, so will give it a serious go. If I find myself living under a bridge this time next year, I'll know I failed...

  14. I did indeed buy genuine. I had a fish around the hole with a small magnet and found one very small shard of metal but not much else. All is back up and running.

  15. Also worth checking the tyres - both for rolling-radius and pressure. In times-past one of my cars [1977 Range Rover] had a bit of a power-on/power-off 'drift' which I spent ages trying to track down - eventually turned out to be unmatched (different brands, different amounts of wear) tyres on the front axle. New tyres of the same make on the front and the problem vanished.

  18. I had an appointment today at the Dentist ( don't worry yourselves, i'm fine ) On friday i got a phonecall from the dentist, who is a small 2 person dentist* and staff operation, checking with me about covid etc and what would happen today. On saturday i received a text from the dentist asking me reminding me of my appointment and could i fill in my forms online please. What forms? I've been with them for years.. Clicked on the link and it took me to the ukdentalhub. What's the uk dental hub then? ****ed if i know, but the site wanted all my details, name, addres

  20. That still does not permit them to contact you after the event about your MOT expiry. Unless there is other specifics surrounding potentially sharing or storing your details, and using them for other purposes than parking, it would be a clear breach of GDPR rules.

  21. Strangely I do. I saved all of the photobucket pictures before they alienated all members and I deleted my account! Here you go: I am still unsure how I should have cut the piece that sits on top of the seatbox to allow access to the underseat storage, but have a good think about this before you take a knife to it. Used the lids as templates, but this makes re-fitting them really hard and I think I should have made them wider. One criticism is that if you have to take the floor panels out, the whole lot has to come out, but that isnt the mattings fault and was more a
