  2. Coming together again, a few bits ordered to arrive next next week to finish off the bonnet and wings. We’re going to remove the roof again to get it into the workshop to do the rear end and do some work on the lift up part i think it’s looking quite tidy 😁 I’ll spend some time fertling the doors to get it to sit right, it was hammering with rain when I put them on!

  3. You can put forward any opnion you might wish to, so long as you do so with the basic respect and decency we all should expect of each other. Getting angry because someone doesn't agree with your opinion is not an option, though. All of the credible science does point to it.... But I didn't mention climate change. I merely said these schemes are designed to keep more-polluting engines out of areas. Separate climate change from this for a minute; we can prove that air quality increases when traffic is lower. We can prove that smog is a thing. We can prove that instances of respiratory d

  4. Loving Meccano's approach. I've had a fallow few months because it's really cold outside(!) so I've been learning more about Fusion360 and getting better at 3D-printing stuff. It can dangerously become the answer to everything though, but I've found an economic source of MIG gas again too so we may be able to add metallic fabrication back to the arsenal soon. My progress has taken much longer than the photos suggest - essentially I've put the electronics in a box and made three brackets; I'm hoping this is the bit where lots of effort doesn't bear much fruit. 3D printing brings a nice cus

  8. Not posted for a while as it's been cold and I've been made workshop team leader at work so been doing weekends but progress as started again as it's a bit warmer . Some of this is from christmas which is the last time I did a bit , first up big thank you to @vulcan bomberfor the vent surrounds , brilliant wasted no time getting them to fit , just need to countersink the fixing holes , we've got a small plasma cutter at work so made use of it to do the dash internal panels , top one with fixings for radio , then strengthened the main dash

  12. That's really smart! I think the front grill surround will work nicely in green to just break it up slightly. Are the B pillars staying dark?

  13. I've found that owning a "normal" car for commuting makes LR ownership far more tolerable, especially on the wallet. No matter what silliness befalls me over a weekend I can walk out on Monday morning and get into something with comfy seats and a working heater that starts on the button and cruises along with no effort. Doesn't have to be a sensible car either - I've followed Ross's lead and picked up a Mini Cooper which is hilarious fun. I think if I had to commute in London I'd be driving a cheap Smart car in rattle-can matt black. TBH it's easy to get all doom and gloom about all

  20. Cheers 😁 I’ve ordered a new grill surround ( non A/C ) which I shall do green and maybe the grill...however it does have a wheel in front of it and we haven’t settled on what colour to do the wheels yet....

  22. Thank you all , not a lot to post today over here bit more in my build thread . Just finished painting the dash bits ready for trimming next week hopefully . Wasn't after a great finish as it will have closed cell foam and vinyl on top and the inside is just to stop the rust .

  24. I've checked the old chassis and that front mount isn't slotted either so I think it should be fixed. Today I moved the rear tub back to lined up that mount and it looks better than I thought. Only about a 3mm overhang so nothing to worry about. I now have a better gap at the bottom of the doors but it reduces the higher up the door gap I measure by about 10mm. Any ideas how I might make it parallel?

  26. Don't get me wrong, I completely accept man made climate change the evidence is overwhelming. As for covid, go and talk to those mourning the loss of loved ones or doctors and nurses who are working tirelessly to help those suffering: you can talk to my wife who is a nurse if you like. I do however really dislike the blunt tool of simply banning things rather than persuasion through rational debate. That said I feel many of the problems most of us now find ourselves in is when logic and expert opinion are shouted down and dismissed. It's when we stop listening to expert opinion, allowing

  27. I think you’ve probably got a mount slightly off somewhere on your new chassis, not unheard of sadly. The chassis mount at the front of the seatbox should be slotted to allow fore/aft movement? The body overhanging the rear crossmember by 5-10mm is normal on later vehicles with the moveable rail, often on one side but not the other!

  31. My 110's right hand [drivers] footwell came from GDI Products via ebay, I thought it fitted well & I bought a left hand one to fit when we get better weather. don't think you will go wrong with YRM panels.

  32. They are unlikely to ban anything in a meaningful way, just tax things so they're too expensive to run for normal people. It's the point with the LEZs etc. The fact they are making people not take vehicles into those areas or even changing their engines is exactly what they are meant to do; the point is cleaner air, not revenue generation (yes, I know the argument that it is, or is both). I've worked on the principle that by 2030 it will be too expensive in tax, fuel and societal percetion to drive the 90. All the more reason to get a few years' enjoyment out of it now.

  34. Check my build thread out for quick release mud guard mounting. In your case you could weld a pin to a strip of steel which you could bolt to your cross member for a quick release option. Just found a quote by yourself in my build thread dated 2012! Steve

  35. https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product-category/mud-shields-flaps/ I fitted a full set of Gywn Lewis mudflaps and mudshields to my 110 hardtop last year. The rear mudflaps dismount in seconds when you want to remove them, and as far as unintended dismounting goes, I'm sure I hit 70mph once and they didn't fall off 😁 The front mudflaps aren't quick release, and it would be a bit of a faff to remove them but then I'm not sure why you'd need to take them off regularly anyway. The rear flaps attach to a redesigned rear tub brace (you just swap the original one for the Gywn Lewis

  36. So heres my adapters ( front only) i braved another print. Unfortunately i havent quite got the air sping pin holes quite right and my support material needs cleaning up ( its fusing too well). However, im now considering a 5mm steel ring at the base instead of relying on the plastic to retain the sping. The plate can then have studs welded for the turret, so it becomes a plasic sandwich instead of using the strength of the plastic to retain the turrent bolts. from memory its a 5mm shell and 50% fill. 15hr print. Stl file: the actual print:

  38. Well Friday went to plan and 12 bottles of Hobgoblin later I went to bed , Saturday I thought sod it I'm on holiday and didn't do anything but there was progress and bits ordered so here we go . First up sprayed the top frame up , finished the passenger side panel off and the rear returns then put some small runs on to hold it together , that then got a lick of paint , please bear in mind that most of the paint will look a bit shoddy due to the fact that it's being covered with vinyl , so it was at this point I decided that the panel that I'd made to fit bet

  39. I am not getting angry with anyone , I am just pointing out I do not believe goverment propaganda. If you really believe that then good for you. I do research into something when someone says , this is for that ect. Re the covid I suggest you look at the ONS data for England, goverment data over the last 30 years of monthly death totals all cause. It shows there is no pandemic but you'll not get that on BBC ect. Anyone can believe what they want , I choose to do research into anything , I don't just believe goverment conspiracy theorys , because if you look you'll find they are telling false
