  1. Cheers for the help, i hadnt had any replies before i fitted it so just went from a live feed off the ignition that cut out when cranking, it wasnt the way i really wanted but it is actually working ok. the gauge seems to zero ok and when driving hard registers a max boost of a shade over 1 bar which is what im told it should max out at so im assuming the gauge is ok. thanks anyway guys if i decide that i do need to change the connection i will follow your advice and go with the relay.
  2. Hi im fitting a boost gauge to my 300 Tdi but the instructions say connect live to Battery (+) , i want to connect it to something switched so its only live when ignition key is turned. Trouble is i have seen somewhere on the internet that it needs to be something that stays live while the engine is cranking but all the connections i find are cut off while the engine is turning over. Does anyone know what connection i should use or does it not matter if the circuit cuts out while starting. The peice i read says it something to do with the gauge zeroing. The make of gauge is auto gauge. Has anyone else fitted this make or help out with the connection needed
  3. Thanks cipx2 have now ordered the seal. Just got to fit it lol
  4. No replies yet so maybe a bit more information is needed. My discovery 1 is an m reg (june 1995) 300 Tdi ES with electric sunroofs. The front sunroof started to open but had not lifted up at the rear and the 2 locking lugs mounted under the glass caught the rubber seal tearing the it both sides. I read in one of the posts that the sunroofs for a 300 Tdi and the disco 2 are the same but want to make sure this is right before i buy a new seal. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  5. Hi quick quest ion is the disco 1 300 tdi sunroof seal the same as a disco 2. been told it is but want to make sure before i buy. cheers
  6. I have just ordered some bripart standard height heavy duty springs for my 300 Tdi, have i wasted my money or are they ok, Also it states that they are 376mm in height is this ok as i didnt check my spring height or know the height of a standard disco 1 rear spring. Opinions and advice please. thanks
  7. That looks smart, is yours with the plastic tank or metal and does it fit if i have the tow bar as well????. I think i might have to settle for the simmonites one as funds are sort of limited at the mo. If anyone has a picture of the simmonites tank guard on a disco i would appreciate a look. cheers
  8. Hi Can anyone tell me where i can gat a fuel tank guard for a discovery 1 300 Tdi with plastic fuel tank from. I have benn looking on the internet and am having trouble locating one
  9. Hi yes i think your right and i have the terminology round the wrong way. As a test i have taken the alternator fuse out and connected a battery which is reading 12,06 volts connected. When i put the fuse back in the voltage drops to 11.94 and then slowly starts decreasing until i remove the fuse and the voltage returns to over 12 volts. I have now left the fuse off and will test the battery voltage in the morning.
  10. Hi i have a m reg discovery 300 Tdi and the battery is draining overnight. I have disconnected the battery and reconnected in the morning so i know the battery is fine. I have now pulled all fuses out and taken the battery out. And yes that does stop it draining lol. Next i have connected a multi-meter to the positive and negative battery leads and have the meter testing resistance to detect any open circuits. I am getting a reading which shows there is a open circuit which i have traced to the alternator. If i take out the 100 amp alternator fuse the circuit closes and re-opens when the fuse is re-installed. What i am long windedly asking is should there be a constant open circuit on the alternator or is it fubar, Any help will be appreciated john
  11. Hi, i think you may be right, i went out earlier and drove for a few miles and now the beep has stopped so it could be the alarm battery was low and has now charged. Thanks for the reply will let you know how it goes
  12. Hi i have a 1995 discovery 300Tdi which has started emitting 3 quiet beeps at about 60 second intervals. I have a laserline 996v3 alarm fitted which was already in it when i purchased the disco. The beeps are coming from somewhere underneath as yet i havent found exactly where. Does anyone know what they mean and how do i stop them. The beeps occur all the timewhen parked and when the engine is running. Please help
