Radio was correct, finally realised I had wired the stereo's memory to the permanently live side of the isolator...

Just connected up the battery and the lead sparked a little, i've seen it before when connecting up various things, but on the landy the 2 positive cables go straight to an isolator switch each, which was turned off, 1 in the cab, the other in the engine bay which used to be for a winch.. . Not sure how there could be a connection anywhere to make it spark.. It only sparks as the cable touches, once it's touched it's fine.. Regards.

Just a quick update. These hot glue patches have been on a little while and it has been very wet this week, but they are holding up well. The whole roof though, is damp on the inside.. I've got some Fabsil to treat it, but it needs to be dry to do it, but it hasn't dried out for a week now.. I've just had to wipe the inside of the rag to remove the start of mould! I need a fine dry day...

I ended up using a hot glue gun to glue round patches on the inside, cut from a pair of thick trousers. It stuck really well using a hair dryer to melt the glue more. It hasn't rained since so I can't test it thoroughly, but all seems ok so far..

Checked out Woolies, they have something similar-ish, but not much cheaper and it would need a bit of fettling to fit, so I guess it's spend the money and get the correct part.. That's assuming I can ever manage to get the rusty bolts out, or it's grinder time..

Thanks, now just to spend, what seems, an awful lot of money for a short length of rubber seal..

Guess I need to order a new rubber seal to go here.. There are some on ebay and other landy places, but I would like to know the code so I know I'm ordering the correct part, as they do not seem cheap!. It's a 1966 series 2a, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Hi, I would install a solar panel if I used it for longer periods, but for just a few days the battery lasts fine. The tear drop doesn't have any charging facility, I remove the battery at home and charge it with a battery charger from the house mains. Guess if I ever needed to charge it while out in it, I could take the car battery charger with me and a simple adaptor for the electric hook up, but I've not needed to yet.

Didn't think about a hot glue gun, we have loads of those at work.. I did consider finding something made of suitable canvas I could cut up to use, not sure what yet.. You can buy cuts of canvas off the net, but until it arrives, you've no idea what it's really like, could be thin rubbish..

Your guess is correct, fitted with a 110amp leisure battery and only 12 volts. One charge at home lasts quite a few days as it only really runs my daughter's portable dvd player, a car stereo and the lighting, plus, of course, the main power draw; charging my daughter's mobile phone.. After about 4 nights I guess you'd need a way to charge it, but we haven't run out yet..

My roof is wearing a little thin in places and a small hole has appeared, above where my daughter sits , it's fine my side... Looking on ebay you can buy tent repair patches for a few quid, some are self sticky, which I would guess are rubbish?, some need glue.. Not sure how good the canvas is either, doubt it's as thick as the existing roof.. Do these things actually stay stuck on? Has anyone used one they can recommend, or will I need to sew a patch on for any lasting use. My roof is black, so I did think of cutting something else up to use as a donor for the patch.. Thanks.

Unfortunately my family is so far behind in tech terms that non of them have a satnav and my phone is an old brick which doesn't even take pictures or have internet access... My friend's cars have satnavs built in, so can't be borrowed. Guess i'll try and find a cheap one to try.

Ok, just read through that thread.. You didn't seem to have much luck. I wasn't after a round speedo, but wondered whether a standard satnav would show the speed, in any form that I could read while driving. The best option so far seems to be a gps speedo from Demon Tweeks at £79.98..

The speedo in my old landy reads wrong, it's slower as I have the wrong diff fitted, but it also wobbles quite a bit, so it's difficult to tell what speed I'm doing, though it's probably slow... I've looked at GPS speedos as they fit them in some racing cars, but these are £78, the head up ones, which are cheaper, I'm told are not very good. Been looking on ebay and there are loads of satnavs for under £30, but I can't judge whether any would give a clear figure on them of the speed.. Has anyone any recommendations.. Thanks.

Depends how friendly you are.. The inside is basically all bed, so a matress 6'6" x 4'. Would be snug for 2, and I know couples that do sleep on them, but mine is really just for my daughter to sleep in, and her friends..
