  1. Finished. It certainly drives a lot better now I have the same ratio front and back. It's not digging up my drive so badly either.
  2. Almost finished. It was faster second time round. Not a lot of torque figures in the Haynes manual I'm using. I have been assuming that all the 9/16" nuts and bolts are about 30 ft pounds.
  3. I'm not sure what's happening with my posts but I wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied. It turns out that I had a 3.54 ratio diff in the front. I actually watched as the guy counted 47 teeth but didn't double check and there must only have been 46. As punishment I now get to replace the diff again. Thanks Craig
  4. It feels a bit like the front wheels are working harder. The guy counted 47 teeth on the crown wheel before he sold it to me but I will double check tomorrow. I'll also try the other brake related test. Thanks for the advice. Cheers
  5. I assume front and rear rover type diffs are interchangeable with no adjustment needed?
  6. Hi all I recently replaced the front diff (4.7/1 rover type) on my series 3 109. I had knocked some teeth off the crown wheel and pinion. The diff I installed was a second hand one with no obvious problems. I also replaced the right hand front wheel bearings as they looked a bit worn. I'm only using the landy off road at the moment to get up and down a steep muddy mile long driveway. Going down everything seems ok but driving uphill is a real battle as the landy swings all over the place. It's like really bad torque steer and it's hard to stay on the road at times. I've lifted the front and checked that the wheels spin freely. One side spins forward and the opposite backwards as I would expect. There are no noises or obvious looseness. Can anyone suggest further trouble shooting steps? I'm sure if I was to take it out on the road in 2wd there would be no problems. Thanks Craig Sunny Dunedin NZ
