  1. All sorted. It pays to sleep on it. The part is the Venturi activator. All back in place now and the landy purrs. Thanks for your help!
  2. I have issues with fuel. My series 3 won't start without the choke, runs rough and doesn't idle. I just took if off again, opened it up, and it appears clean. But I found this part in the bowl! Do you know where it is supposed to go? Can't find it on the Zenith parts diagram.
  3. Could someone please advise if this carb is connected correctly. It seems to me that the choke does nothing at the bottom. Thanks, Russell
  4. I have a series 3. I've had the flywheel off and have now put it back on (teeth towards the engine). Question: the starter motor teeth do not align with the flywheel teeth. I'm assuming this engages when you turn the key to start the vehicle? I'd prefer to be sure before I struggle aligning the gearbox to clutch. Any tips appreciated. Russell
  5. It's a pain alright and the top retainer seems to be stuck solid. Regarding the cork T seals, I spoke to a mechanic who said he doesn't use them. Instead he cleans up the area a squirts in silicone sealant until it comes out the other end.
  6. I've removed gearbox, clutch, flywheel, flywheel housing and the lower crankshaft oil seal retainer. The top oil seal retainer won't budge. Is there a trick to this? Something I'm not seeing perhaps? Any tips regarding the use of silicone sealant in this area would also be appreciated. Cheers, Russell

  8. The gearbox was getting stuck in 3rd gear. Encouraged by the gearbox rebuilt info online I set to it. Removed the gearbox, clutch housing, castle bolt and pulled out the Mainshaft and layshaft. I was surprised to find that there were no springs on the 3rd/4th synchromesh and the inside gear on the 1st/2nd synchromesh was broken. No pieces of metal in the oil either. I put new springs on the 3rd/4th sychro and replaced the 1st/2nd Sychro gear, then put it all back together. Felt like a tight fit, everything rotated as it seemed it should. Tightened up the castle bolt with a new lock washer, fitted the bell housing a a new clutch actuator. Laboured for hours getting the gear box into the vehicle, trying to line up the mainshaft into the clutch ( is there an easy way to do this?!) . Finally got lucky and bolted the clutch housing tight. Filled the oil, bled the clutch. Ready to try... It will not engage in any high range gear but will in low range! It changes gears nicely? Just will not engage when the clutch pedal is released. I can move in low range forward and reverse. What have I stuffed up? I'll attach a video if I can...
