I don't know the gauges you're refering to, but is it possible to fit a piece of thick ish (0.08mm / 3 thou) plastic round them. If so it may be wirth investigating a "neutral Density" filter produced for photographers and theatre use. Google lee filters, product numbers 209/210/211 may be of interest.
I had a similar experience (on the M1 @65mph). In my case the main light switch had failed. The contacts had heated up, melted / sunk into the plastic housing so they weren't making contact. Easy enough to sort with a new switch.
A couple of quick (I hope) questions
On a 99 defender should the switch for the HRW be a physically switching type or momentry? (ie like the hazards switch or like the rear fog light which sends a pulse to the ECU which handles the rest)
How much current does the HRW draw, and what size cable do I need?
Many thanks

Afternoon All,
This coming weekend I am heading into the southern highlands to help run a fell running competition. This got me thinking, that although I have no intention of laning / off-roading / call it what you will, I don't actually know what I can drive on north of teh border.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Many thanks

Can some kind soul work out what tow bar I need for my truck. (VIN SALLDHM87XA??????) I'm after an adjustable dixon bate ladder type. I've already got the ball/Jaw unit I want, but I can't work out which frame I need. Either LR or DB part numbers would be gratefully appreciated
Try talking to the people who make "Gobos" for theatre / entertainment use. Suspects include DHA (now known as Rosco), Projected Image or Goboland. The latter two are possibly more used to odd requests. Let me know if you need contact details etc.

When mine seized a few years ago I simply(!) undid to four screws that hold the front plates to the back, then pumped some grease in through the nipple. This forces the hook to separate from the "spike" it rotates around.
After that it was just a case of a good soaking with some penetrating oil and a regrease to restore it to full working order.

I'm not sure if this should be in here or "Requests for Part Numbers", but here goes...
I have a 1984 110 that has been retro fitted with a 200TDi. The back half of the exhaust has finally given up the ghost and will need replacing. I know that I need a 200TDi mid pipe, back box and tail pipe, what I can't work out is what I need in the way of hangers, clamps etc. Can any one point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks

Until I fitted the swing away carrier, I had a spare 7.50R16 on the back door and a NATO on the crossmember. They would clear each other, provided the hitch sat parallel to the ground. If it was locked upright then the top catch would just bind on the bottom of the tyre. I can't help with any other size tyres but I suspect that 235 /85 will be fine if the hitch is unlocked.

I may have a copy in the loft, I'll try and have a look over the weekend. If I've got it I'll want to keep hold of it but am happy to photocopy bits.
Does this help?

I'm in the process of buying some of Pinny's surplus amber beacons, but don't really want to pay out for post and packing. Can anyone help to move them from Pinny's in Colchester towards me in Coventry?
Any help gratefully received, and paid back with my eternal gratitude.
