Hi guys Im slowly stripping the the layers back on a new tub and roof for the series. So im going to be doing the rest of the old girl at the same time, but im confused on paint. Aly body needs etch primer ?? have had a look but there are loads of types. And im looking for some dark blue and white also. So the question is Anybody know of a good paint supplier mail order or local to hertfordshire that can help me out.?? Thx guys Matt P.S im still quite new to this so sorry for the daft question

Well what can i say.. Im not the most active member in the world but always find the posts useful and informative on here. The saga of the builds as they go along is excellent and helps me to get off my rear end and sort mine out.. To me the LRO boards are rubbish.. Cant see anything even on a 19" screen and so much moaning... Me im happy here and always appreciate the help.. My only issue is SWMBO is trying to get me to sell the old girl and i dont want to..... Even my golf pipes are oily.. I just take the intercooler out once a year and give it a spring clean works fine either way...

Afternoon all Slightly O/T but its about a smoky diesel so not to far out. I have a 98 golf diesel, Now i have been having issues with losing power which i managed to trace to a faulty Air Mass sensor ( as in unplug engine runs better make sense silly VW's) And i think the ECU may be going on the fritz due to the following Was driving down A1 tother day when low oil light came on checked levels following morning about half way so topped up to just under max. Was then on my way home from work light showed again glow plug light came on car stopped luckily was on inside lane and wrestled it to the Hard Shoulder.. Left 10 mins checked connections etc ( dont worry had fluro jacket on) allw as ok restarted fine and got home.. Later that night driving back up a1 a little way engine overspeeds to redline low oil light comes on and then glow plugs light come on again. So im getting confused here. Pull over calm down the kids. Leave for 10 mins restart big plume of white smoke but runs kinda ok. Hit 3000 RPM in first engine overspeeds again. Called RAC got a lift home not happy... So my diesel knolwedge isnt great.. Any Ideas. Matt

So on the plus side.. My 86 lwb 2.6 petrol which is as bad as a v8... Is still going to cost nothing then.. But my 98 golf TDI is going up a fiver... Makes sense :S

I thought we were going carbon neutral.... Not an issue with Higeher VEDS as i drive a diesel golf and a tax exempt LR But they are / Have put up the price of beer again.. Must be as we are going smoke free need the billions from elsewhere Matt

Afternoon Guys I run a 68 LWB SW. After much fiddling i have had to replace the wheel cylinders and flexi hose on the nearside front and the rear flexihose also. The problem i have is although i have Adjusted and bled the brakes i still habve no pedal. It has dual front wheel cylinders and is servo assisted.... Any ideas as it still feels like air in the system. Cheers guys Matt

Ok guys Some friendly advice needed. Im looking at getting a new motor. Getting bored of the golf and as the old girl is in bits thought i would treat myself to a 90. So Recommendations please. Would i be sacrificing reliability if i go for a 200 tdi rather than a 300 tdi?? Hard top or stationwagon?? I have 2 kids but will still be keeping the golf for my good lady so still have a "family Car". Would need space for the job also. On top of this what would be the safe essentials for green laning and a bit of fun as a starting point for making it better... So what do i do. Budget is around 10,000 and will be over the next coupla months. I would be using it each day and do about 500 miles a week. Also need to get any accessories within that budget So what ya reckon guys Rgds Matt

Thanks for that guys. I Just checked the V5 for the old girl (and it does not show a seating capacity. And ive been driving that insured as a six seater for years. Just a wizened old man advised i was able to do that on the old girl as shes 40 yrs old but newer models i couldnt. Oh well..... Think the friend was fibbing Matt

Afternoon Peeps Have a nice query for you all. Looking at getting an older 110 SW but i cant drive a car with more than 8 seats because of license restrictions. As they are all 10 to 12 seaters can i just remove the inwards facing seats in the back to get it down to 6??? Or do the DVLA frown on this. Regards Matt

As far a Ethics go i dont think they have any. The amount of probs mates of mine have had with them( Non landie trying to buy shocks for the pimp wagons) does make you wonder how they survive. The only real explanation is they have the backing of the mags as they spend ££££ on adverts. So B*ll**s to them iwas going to buy an extreme kit for my upcoming toy but i wont be now.
