@Eightpot Alas - more info has revealed the head to be no good 🙁 but thank you so much for your offer of help 🙏🏻

That’s very very kind - thank you.
I’ll message the seller to say we may have a way forward and then message you 🙏🏻

Well - tempting as that is ! I won’t be free for a couple of weekends yet. It would be lovely to come and say hello though! I’ll be in touch 😊

Probably a long shot … but do we have anyone who is near Bromsgrove, Birmingham ? Who might have the time to help me buy a cylinder head please?

That’s very kind of you !! I actually want to use it on my tractor .. just to get a bit a health check on it.

So much stuff is made in China now, it's often difficult to tell if you're paying a high price for a better product or being ripped off and you could've bought the same thing for far less.
Thats exactly it isn’t it 🤔

Are any of the Chinese compression testers worth looking at ?
I’m going to get very limited use from one - and it seems I can pick up a Syle Pickavant set for £200 second hand .. or a Chinese set for £25 from ebay or Ali Express ..
Any thought or experience welcome !

Or a friend's 90 which was owned by an auto electrician.... every single cable was plain black
I know someone who wired everything in red high amperage cable ..
I remember looking into the back of the dash and thinking ‘Oh my god….’

Yes labelling or keeping records is key. I’ve wired things on mine where I’ve looked at it again years later - and had no idea what I’d done.

Super helpful diff. Did you see any difference in how smooth it is or noise (as some other have mentioned) ?

Must admit I have ramps - rarely use them, but I they have been hardy. This has made me think about that a bit 🤔

I think I’ve got one of those late S2 / S3 horn buttons 🤔 I must dig it out.

I run about 28 front and back .. I’m lagging behind !

Another vote for chalk.
I think it’s all down to weight and how much suspension you want in the tyres.

A lot of the 200 tdi mounts are awful - way too hard.
I bought loads of brands for my 80. They were almost all awful.

The Td5 engine mounts are good …

The rumour-mill suggests it will be lower, shorter, heavier and more expensive than the Grenadier.
It may end up getting a lot of tax breaks in some countries though ..

Watch out for that yellow snow !

It is .. though I had only parked there for 10 minutes.
When I did the trailer wiring I had to disturb the filler pipe - and it was looking like it might be starting to perish, so I’ll give it a clean off and start there.
When it stops raining. ☔️
