  1. Hi, Im new to the forum so - Hello.... Ive had similar issues with my 3.5EFI, which were initialy cured with wd40 under the rotor arm to free it up. It was extremely stiff, and the engine wouldnt run below 2500rpm. After that it was "free", but you can still feel the relatively light resistance of the bobs and springs. (clockwise only!) I dont think its a complete fix - as the engine feels a little gutless, so I reckon the advance isnt working as well as it should. When testing the advance, what difference do you look for regarding vacuum connected versus disconnected? How many degrees of advance should a "good" dizzy give? yojimbo
  2. £175 tax???? Is that per quarter??? Try doing that in Ireland: 2000 TD5 Family discovery: €875 (£580) 1986 3.5 V8 Range Rover €1300 (£900) ( I kid you not) The only beak is my 109 is 1974, and thus attracts vintage tax at €42 for the year. Now thats insane... Mind you, our diesel is about 10% cheaper than UK. If I do 400,000 miles a year, I break even... des
  3. Cheers. I think I will do that, as my wife is convinced the problem is related to weather - if its been dry for a while ( not often in dublin...) it seems to behave, but after a few days of rain it reappears. I will check the connections tonight, and check the resistence of the sensors to see if they are in range. I presume that the range given in the workshop manual can be checked statically - i.e while the vehicle is stationary? des
  4. Wasnt there an another ( earlier) recall on SII discos, concerning ABS sensors returning "spurious" signals that would trigger the modulator? This would result in a slight vibration on the pedal... Not sure what the actual fix was in that case... Ive experienced this on and off on my 2000 SII, but recently its started displaying all the ABS/TC/HDC lights too... And its due an NCT/MOT soon.... des
  5. Hi, Im in the process of fitting a dropper too. Previous owner of my '74 109 FFR fitted an electric fan - only it was a 12v one. He wired this directly ( via a cheap switch) to one of the batteries to get 12v. However, this causes one of the batteries to fail in relatively a short period of time ( probably from overcharging) would a 10A dropper be sufficient to run the fan, cb and an aux socket? Also, whats the actual battery spec for a 109 FFR 24v? It has a pair of 365CCA/70A's at the moment. Is this enough? thanks, des
