  1. One of these is fitted to my car when I got it.. but with no cable. Anyone knowledgeable got any ideas? Tried contacting kenlowe. I'd try making my own, but I have no idea, looks like a 2 pin connector of sorts to the heater unit?
  2. So I have an old 3 bolt box, with a flat head3d screwdriver slotted Bolton the centre instead of an Allen key.. I assume the principle is still the same?
  3. Hmmmm, interesting. Im planning on doing this this afternoon, should I have the engine running to get fluid moving through the box?
  4. Excellent, that makes sense to me. I've read I'm looking for about 1cm play either way from 12'oclock
  5. I'd like to tighten the central nut on my steering box.. As far as I can see, tighten it just so it goes tight, then wind it back a bit. In terms of when to do this, some people say do it with steering straight ahead, others suggest with full lock on? Advice please..
  6. Any photos of the hinges, or do you know what your they are?
  7. So my 110 has rx8 seats in the front. There is minimal/zero clearance beneath so getting the cover panels off is a pain, and getting the seats off is a right ol faf... I was contemplating cutting an access panel in the footwell with a hinged flap or something that can allow access.. Is this a terrible idea etc, obviously I don't want to substantially weaken the seat box.. was thinking possibly rivet the top piece on in place to add structure back in.. thoughts please..
  8. So if i'm correct, the part i'm talking about is 94 and is the dirt exlcluder. This should be between the bottom of the steering box and droplink, as long as its all dry which I believe it is I can go ahead and install new box. - AFAIK..
  9. I've purchased a second hand steering box, the one pictured below. Supposed to be working condition. I've knocked the drop-arm off in a vice, however the seal circled red has 'fallen' out aswell. It apepars that this seal sits outside / below of the box, rather than being fixed inside? Is this correct, and does anyone know the part-no for this as all the catolauges and diagrams i've seen don't seem to illustrate it
  10. Past couple of days noticed a rattle at idle / low revs. Got under the bonnet today, it appears that its coming from the turbo unit itself. This is on a defender 200tdi, the turbo at the top of the engine The best way to describe it would be that is sounds a bike chain running backwards. The slightest throttle and the noise goes away, I've taken the hose off, there is now excessive movement to suggest failure is iminnet. No noise under load at all. No excessive oil, water, smoke etc.. Drives fine and power is as normal. Any thoughts, perhaps they all do this, this is the quietest 200tdi I've had so I couldn't previously pick up on noises like this.
  11. So I think I'm all there. In terms of the seats sitting, they are perfect and the side bolts work.. The backrests have a bit of play in them, unless I redrill the bracket / unless in missing something?
  12. So for the middle seat does the latch with the spring mount onto the seat frame, and do without the slider bolt things that the outer seats have..?
  13. Right, I've made progress.. I think I've got the 2 outers sussed in terms of the brackets to stop them folding forward. The middle seat, this still seems to have the bracket and spring, but what is it fixed to, again I can't see what's stopping it falling forward. The slidey rifle bolt type things restrict this on the outer. Unfortunately this is hidden on the photo below..
  14. It appears that the issue was rather using the correct M12 seatbelt bolt, someone had put a M10 bolt through the hole with a nut on the reverse, obviously making it very difficult to remove. 🤔 Anyway, nearly there now. The springs on the side of the seat are no longer available anywhere, would a kind soul be able to roughly measure the length and diameter for me...🙄
  15. Excellent! That's a great help.. it's a right ball ache when there's not a great deal of info to go on, so thanks for the help! Final query, the bolt that the seatbelt fixes to under the arch, I thought it would be a captive nut. There's a bolt with a nut instead, in the stupidest place to put a nut as you can get a spanner on it.. looks like I'll be cutting the edges of a spanner unless im missing a trick!?
  16. So as I said I've got the seats in. I've got brackets on the way and hopefully fit them over the weekend. The seats are in, except the brackets and springs circled on the image below. Even without this, the seat does not fall backwards, but it does fall forwards as I think the bracket grabs the brass sleve. So essentially at the moment there is 1 small bolt into either side of the rear upright section of the chair, which mounts it to the frame. What on earth stops the seat from falling back further, and what stops it from breaking if a huge person puts a massive load on it!? It all seems very, very fragile!?
  17. So i've put the 'standard' bolt back in.. The difference is staggering. The steering still isn't quite perfect, I assume something else must be a bit worn but its much, much nicer. Going round a roundabout I thought for a second I'd lost all PS fluid it was much, much heavier than I was used to. If anyone wants my old Bolt there more than welcome to it, would be good for an offroader, horrible on the road
  18. Fitted the seats, all gone very well.. thanks for the help! The outer seats are fixed in place by the outer catches, is there a catch for the centre seat, or is it just held down by the 2 outers..
  19. Great! Thanks for the photos.. Next problem, not being overly familiar with the seats I know I have all the original seat padding and frames. It would appear that I don't have any of the required fixings and bolts that fit to the frames. Urgh, FFS.
  20. That's the dimensions for the seatbelt plates. I was after dims for the seat brackets aswell..
  21. My brackets turned up today, in my head I was expecting to rivet them on.. Looking at them they look around M8 bolt holes, I presume its ok to bolt the seat brackets on? Dimensions / Photos and locations of the bits would be gratefully appreciated as I'm not 100% sure all where the catches go etc.. The seatbelt fixings definetly show rivets so I'll be going with rivets for them
  22. I've got the brackets ordered, after seat belts now. Can't seem to find much on eBay, I presume they are car specific to defender 110?
  23. Starting to order parts. The car has the brace on the underside of the wheel arch. <a href="https://thumbsnap.com/QoOK1MaA" title="Image Hosted by ThumbSnap"><img src="https://thumbsnap.com/s/QoOK1MaA.jpg" alt="Free Photo Sharing by ThumbSnap" /></a> I presume the 'step' is normal and the 3 split seats sit around it?
  24. In the process of fitting this kit. Only seems to work on getting the actuator to expand. If I press the lock button they don't move. Ideas? Tried connecting all 4 actuators. Still nothing. Light on fob comes on when press button..
