The sixteenth “Ladoga” : it is already possible! The registration of participants for the international trophy-raid “Ladoga” starts on the 1st of November. From May 26th till June 3rd 2012, the most world popular off-road adventure will round Ladoga lake in the sixteenth time. Certainly, this massive event may be called the largest, the longest, the hardest and the most long awaited affair among 4x4-lovers in Russia. Dunes of the Ladoga Lake, the Stone-pit, Moraine lakes, Kulismaioki waterfalls, Petsevara hills, Ruskeala's marble quarry... 1200km for 9 days around one of the most beautiful lakes in our country. The uniqueness of the trophy-raid “Ladoga” is that anyone can chose oneself the most interesting scoring category – the competition unites eleven scoring groups. Ones, who want the tough battle, where each second values, compete in Sport groups like TR1, TR2, TR3, PROTO, ATV, SSV. Those, who want to enjoy tranquil “touristic” way of competition, declare to Adventure and Adventure-open. Admirers of journeys and adventures participate in the group Grand Tourism. And those, who don't feel like racing in sport or touristic categories, may join “the group of organized spectators” - Discovery. It is no coincidence that “Ladoga-trophy” is the most massive trophy-raid in Russia, and the most numerous in the world. Every year “Ladoga” improves, there appear new routes and scoring groups. In fact, the scoring championship Ladoga Team Spirit first time took place in 2011. This year the battle will go on, but some rules will change. From now on, the team consists of three crews, declared to any scoring group (except Discovery). Results of all crews will be considered in the championship Team Spirit. Organizers and participants, who have been raced for many years, admit, that last year was “the most dry” “Ladoga” since the race was founded. Hello, St.Petersburg Off Road Club has decided to keep unofficial "world toughest off road competition" title. Veppskiy Les was going wrong direction, but now it's coming back what it originally was... World Toughest Off Road Competition. Even Club President Yuri Ovchnikov keeps today's Ladoga Trophy as a picnic trip if you compare it to Vepsskiy Les. In this year in vepsskiy there will be first short Prolog 1 about 2-5 hours, after that Starts Prolog 2 which is nonstop. At the start origanisers just look that yuo have 2 days food and drinks with you. Total kilometres are little over 230. Who is fastest is the winner. And you find easy driving surface in Prolog 2 at the start and then next time at the finnish... So you have to have satellitephones to connect your service car eq. delivering eg. petrol/diesel and service parts.For security reasons one 24 hour driving section has to include one 6 hours break (which will start between 21.00-24.00) and you don't have to keep it at the Control Point. Competition days are 17-19.8 and Thursday is technical inspection day. Total cost is 8600 RUB.Technical rules are the same as in Laodga, expect the Proto-class name is now "Open" and Turism -class name has been changed to Adventure. Yuri said that the Turism name give a little bit wrong attitude or image for participants... As usually no service at the camp area, temperature can go uncer minus degrees at nights. Petrol is better to buy from Lukoil when you turn from St.Petersburg/Murmansk road to Veppskiy. Local petrol station is very unsure, usually they have only 74 octane and no diesel at all. Earlier it has been possible to rent a sauna from locals for the price of one plactig bag of Vodka. Few Finnish Teams are going...if you are still interested in, please let me know...

Do you have PayPal account? Yuri wasn't also not so keen for this new regulation. But the pressure has been become from St.Petersburg and Karelia Police. Truth is, specially TR-3 and Proto -class cars are quit far away from road regulations. And they have started to provoke too much negative attention. And this (public negative feedback) is what organisers want to avoid. So even in Russia things are changing..some times two steps forward, then 3 backwards.. but movement anyway.. Good point is that organisers are making as counterweight Special Stages longer and harder... Remember! Last Period One Registration Day (cheapest fee) is 18.12.2009!

Ladoga Trophy 2009 DVD has been out few months!!!! It's reasonable priced 15e/each. I have now run out of it, but I can get it from the St.Petersburg club. How many wants it? Ladoga english version of regulations is out. Biggest changes - it's allowed to tow or use trailer between the Special Stages - if you do registration during period 1 or 2, you can pay 50% for the total fee and rest 50% 1st of March. BR, Ari
