  1. In the recent snow, was called out several times to recover friends stuck in snow. Not done much of this so am thinking what is the best rope/ strap to buy now, ready for next time, particularly as the rope has to fit these modern tow hooks on cars now, not the biggest- for instance new minis. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  2. I had a similar thing, caused by not using the vehicle much, turned out I had a fungus growing in the fuel lines and tank, had to clean it out and treat with a fungicide- never expected that but now use the vehicle more.
  3. I have several series, self contained, wiper motors. Most of them are missing the internal clip that holds them together inside, lost or broken when re-greasing. Anyone know where to get these please?
  4. Have fitted a work light to the back of my 1991 Defender tdi and was wondering where the best place might be to put the switch and warning light, can't seem to find any sort of ready made panel to house them, any pics, ideas would be great. Also I have several Series Wiper motors, most need that little horse shoe shape clip fitting internally, any idea where I can get some? Many thanks.
  5. Replaced the sender, all fine now. thanks Ibex94 for the advice to get a new lock ring and rubber seal- would have been big trouble without them, with them a very easy job to do. Cheers.
  6. i realised tonight, coming home that the gradient is not what is affecting the reading - it goes steadily to half and back to empty whatever the terrain.
  7. Just started doing it this week though, after being fine for 5 years- fuel sloshing about never before affected what the gauge read.
  8. My fuel gauge has begun to take itself up to halfway or go down to zero, with the low fuel light on, depending upon the gradient I'm driving at. I think there is about half a tank of fuel in it. Any ideas what is causing this ? Thanks in advance.
  9. All fitted now, with relative ease and plenty of washing up liquid. At least its a visual deterent which wasn't there before, but if someone really wants to get in it won't stop them, I'm aware of that - the key lesson is not to leave anything valuable on display. Thanks for all replies.
  10. After having my rear small widow removed and back door opened and stuff knicked out of the back, I am trying to replace it while hopefully making things harder for the thieving ******* in future. I have order some rear window mesh guards from Devon 4x4 which look useful, anyone fitted these? Is it difficult? Also, as they took the window with them for some reason I have bought a new window and seals, any tips for fitting this please? Please all beware just how easy it is to open a locked rear station wagon door by removing the small onside rear window !! Many thanks all.
  11. Thanks all, will sort it tomorrow for peace of mind.
  12. Hi all. Had to fit a new battery today,as old one found out by the cold. This new one is a bit taller, so I didn't need the strip of wood which was previously under the metal battery clamp. All went in fine but im a bit worried as to whether the lead coming out of the positive, could possibly touch the metal clamp as it is vey close. I have taped all around it and put a good thick cloth on the clamp. What would happen if it touched ? Fuse everything ? Many thanks, seems fine, but better safe than sorry.
  13. As my rather bodged switch for my rear work light fell apart today, I was wondering where on the dash, you good people have your worklight switch and what type is the switch. Cheers all.
  14. Fuse it was, became obvious when the horn didn't work either. Thanks both.
  15. Am I right in thinking that on my 1991 200TDi 90 the clock and the interior light are fused/ connected together. My interior light is missing and the clock is stopped too. Cheers.
