I have the 285/75 Nokian Vativas on mine for the winter on wolf rims. the only issue I have with the 285's is you have to pay more attention when turning as the wheels will rub on full lock compared to the 255/85's. Other than that no issues with this tire size.

I actually installed mine yesterday - went to drill a small hole inside the EGR cavity (to the left looking in not the right) and literally the wall is only a ~1mm thick - bit went through easily. started it up after and all seems to work. I wanted to use that spot as well as my EGT probe was installed there previously and didn't want to have to drill and tap a new hole and then have to get a shorter probe. Was worried about shavings and such but took it for a spin last night and it seems to be working fine. I got a plate and probe from McNally electronics that comes pre-drilled and then just bent the probe upwards to work. Cheers, Brian

Just wanted to say thanks for a great post I used this and installed mine this weekend. can I ask where you ended up installing your egt gauge? I had mine installed in the egr blank off plate previously and now need to figure out where to install as this option doesn't seem to exist with the VNT setup. Cheers, Brian

Chris bringing a post back from the dead but the exact same thing happened to my 110 Defender this weekend just trying to get an update on what you ended up doing? And what exactly failed?? Mine is getting towed to the garage tomorrow but it sounds identical so trying to preplan what I am going to need to do to mine. Cheers, Brian Hope
