  1. Thank you, excellent news, Have a choice to go for.........., Range Rover Rostyles (maybe not) .... Wolfs off a 110 ( very tall tyres) ..... Standard Defender with wide ish tyres
  2. Diesel conversion was for economy and a bit more torque when off road. Next question is, will defender rims fit because they have quite a large off set on the inside?
  3. Got mine in wallet, just had a look and it has faded Having said that I swapped a damaged torx bit from a set that I bought from them without a receipt or any bother at all
  4. Thanks for the info Diff in and road tested, had it up to 55 without screaming too much and runs at 50 nicely, (speeds via sat nav) Its on 6.00x16 tyres so maybe upgrade to a slightly larger size as long as it doesn't affect the pulling power too much getting a defender diff for the front next
  5. How about a ratchet strap around the back of the engine and around the front crossmember. Could click it forward a bit at a time
  6. Checked in store today and the box is also guaranteed for a lifetime so it will be replaced if the hinges break
  7. Driver has been driving diesels since 1962 Took it up to fifty today and it was absolutely at the limit of its revs, putting defender diff in rear axle tonight to see if its any better, am I right in thinking that it will have a 1.6 transfer box? ( 1979 series three petrol ) No label on it unfortunately
  8. Its part of the kit and has no moving parts so it is Calling in tomorrow so I'll ask
  9. I too have one and its excellent. Only gripes I have are that there is no 11mm spanner and the box hinges are rubbish, but you can swap for a new box if it breaks so not really a problem :)
  10. I'll leave it for now, swapping box after Christmas, don't need it for MOT in January so a little less to worry about
  11. You're right it is, I was going to rob the R380 one for the LT77 but couldn't find where to fit it
  12. Thanks for that, its definitely not there nor is there anywhere to screw one in. There is just a large thick screw head which I think secures the reverse spring loaded resistor. Must be something missing, I'll have to put up with it until I get the R380 in after Christmas. Less wiring to do anyway
  13. It was an 88 petrol and we stuck a 2.5 diesel in it. Cant get 50mph cause it sounds like its going to explode. Its a good engine just too low geared
  14. Not there, just the reverse spring mechanism, looks like I'll be taking the reverse lamp off then
  15. Cant find the reverse light switch on Disco 200tdi gearbox, put new springs on bottom of gearlever and had a look around but couldn't see a switch I was expecting it to be at the back of the gearstick but nothing
  16. I would put some sheet plastic or a rubber mudflap on top of the battery and check every now and then that it hasn't worn through. I have some thick rubber matting on top of mine but have plenty of room
  17. Higher diffs will make for more space between the gears so progressively more mph in each gear, be happy with sixty flat out so as can drive at 45 The defender would go 70 downhill and wasn't too bad normal driving so a bit lower geared that that should be prefect for the 2.5......hopefully. Can I change front diff by taking Spheres out a bit, or just pulling drive shafts like a defender, never done a series
  18. Acceleration at the moment is set off in second then straight into top No in between I'm afraid, the Defender was ok with the engine and diffs up to about 40 but struggle after that, only local with it so hope its ok. Thanks for info Pete
  19. We have just put a 2.5 n/a Defender diesel in a petrol Series three As expected top speed is now about 45 mph with everything shaking to destruction. Will fitting 3.4 Defender diffs (10 spline) be a direct replacement and by how much can we expect the gearing to be raised (cant do the maths ) thanks Pete
  20. I use battery powered led strip lamp for my 90 interior, it lights up all the 90 and has a delay of a minute before switching off so just like an expensive car really Got it in Lidl ages ago for a couple of quid
  21. I once went to a Land Rover dealership to get a new thermostat. Took chassis number with me and gave them the reg, should get what I want I thought. The computer said it could be one of two, man said what colour have you got in now. What is the point I said, it could be the wrong one in now, which one did it come from the factory with I said. Could be one of two he answered, what colour have you got in now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  22. Some have pipes sticking out to connect to and others have screw in connections, don't know which are which but its anly the pipes that are different
  23. Yes I swapped the 200 tdi one over on to my 2.5 n/a when I broke down collecting the Disco on a trailer
  24. Never looked really, just took it off the 19J and it screwed straight into the 200 tdi, thought it would be best to use it as it came out of the Defender and matched the temp gauge. Will need a new one for my engine swap (Disco 200 into 90) so which one will it be, 2505 or 6663 ?
