  1. The purple wire Western refers to is quite a bit heavier gauge than the others.
  2. Righto. I might have a fiddle when i go up to the work shop to poke the rayburn. Many thanks.
  3. I haven't adjusted the waste gate actuator rod either.
  4. Righto. What is the purpose of the little white plastic collar? No, in fact the anti tamper collar is still on.
  5. You could of course systematically pull fuses until you find one that kills your work light. Or not
  6. Why not incorporate it in the reverse light circuit, with your dash mounted switch as a manual override? That way you still use factory fuse protected wiring.
  7. As i said in my response to Richard, setting the diaphragm to its richest setting happened to be a quarter of a turn. I should have been more specific.
  8. if I let the engine go to idle speed in gear, rolling, then floor it, then yes I get smoke. I dont get smoke if the truck is just ticking over though. Ok, I shall try winding the starwheel in a little further. The diaphragm is set to its richest setting.
  9. I appreciate that this is a done to death subject, but i'm on a slightly different track here. I have turned the diaphragm quarter of a turn, star wheel down one turn. What my issue is, is that the boost comes in very gently. I drove a friend's discovery, and the off boost/on boost transition is very snappy. His truck goes much better than mine. I get reasonably dense smoke off boost and a light haze on boost to full throttle. Any ideas? I wonder weather I should screw the low speed fuelling screw out a little to cut down the smoke off boost. I dont know if that would affect how the turbo spools up or not. Over all, what i have at the moment is an engine that feels, well, lazy. Roland
  10. Nail a tax exempt ID on it and just keep it insured.
  11. 5. Buy a decent PAS box. I can't imagine why anyone would consider refitting a manual box.
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-90-Defender-4-8L-V8-Thor-engine-Auto-ABS-Traction-Control-/301039825603?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item46175f32c3 Don't know if its cheap or not but I fancy it
  13. Is there a sub forum for pedantic posts to be moved to?
  14. What makes a disco rad and inter cooler frame about 25mm bigger then?
  15. That's it you see, the bore of the wheels I have is 3/4 inch so I'm limited in diameter. Proper lawn mower axles seem to be made of a hard steel.
  16. For building a small garden trailer, would i be best using EN1A, EN8 or EN16T for the axle? It will be 3/4inch diameter and will take a ride on mower type wheel. I assume that due to the nature of the wheel, (phosphor bronze bush) that a harder steel would be preferable? Sorry for the lack of LR content, but this is the kind of question that this forum is great for Roland
  17. Maybe this would be better in the part number request section...
  18. I'd like to fit side windows in the side panels of my 110. I don't want to go down the route of OE sliding windows, or those odd looking bonded full glass jobs. What is like is just a flat piece of glass in a rubber, in a cut out. Does anyone know what part numbers I require? I'd like the windows as large as possible but not so big I cannot fit two each side. Many thanks Roland
  19. Having watched many sets on eBay, sets of 5 bare rims usually go for around the £400 mark.
  20. I just got an old rayburn off a farmers scrap heap. It runs 4 rads and heats the girl next doors shop too. I also rigged up a water cylinder on the loft so I can finally wash my hands in hot water! I burn pallets but dismantling them is labour intensive. I want to make something to mount on a digger/fork lift that will break one up.
  21. Looking at it, I'd say that work on Roych was more or less completed.
