  1. Got both of them off eBay, did look up Ferm found their website made in Holland I think . Will let you know how the parkside performs soon as I’m fetching the engine bits back tomorrow so should be on that job pretty soon , it’s a 500w job .
  2. Well after hearing all the advice I decided to buy both, neither very expensive I’d have loved to buy a blue Bosch die grinder but £300 is better spent elsewhere at the minute . So got this Ferm multi tool for £30 and a Parkside die grinder for £40 should get the job done .
  3. I wondered whether they had updated cores over the standard ones as it’s for military use , it’s also got a Land Rover part number PFI100042 and they’re listed on the craddocks website . It’s a radiator and intercooler bundle in frame , did think of asking the sellers but most of them probably wouldn’t have a clue and I thought I’d have more chance of getting a sensible answer off people on here .
  4. Hi all , I’m after a new radiator for my project and a firm on eBay is selling a military spec 300tdi radiator and intercooler assembly, does anyone know what the difference is between this and a standard one ? Cheers Ian
  5. +1 for the Halfords advanced , had a ratchet knacker up and I’d had it about 4/5 years and they exchanged it even without the receipt but that’s the only thing that’s broken and I’ve got all Halfords tools . Also if you go online you can apply for a trade card , I’ve got one and I told the i was a fabricator welder showed them my wage slip and I’m now the owner of a trade card.
  6. Cheers 14Platoon , mines the same thickness as simonb’s so not much point ordering another, so think I’ll do what you did and use a silicon sealer .
  7. Looked at Dremels as they were recommended in the guides for porting I’ve read , I’ve got a air die grinder but the compressor isn’t up to the job, once the project is finished ones on the shopping list . But something small to do little jobs is what I’m after at the minute, but lots to think about here cheers all .
  8. Cheers all , have an air one but the compressor is old and not that big, like the look of them PaulN just found one on eBay for £80 no bits with it though.
  9. That’s one of the jobs I’ve got to do , cheers Anderzander will have a look at that one.
  10. Hi all , I’m after a Dremel multi tool for a few jobs I need to do , so are Dremel the best or is there another make that is as good but cheaper or better than a Dremel ? And is corded or battery best ? Looking for advice as I’ve never used or owned one and don’t want to get the wrong one. Cheers Ian
  11. The one I fitted didn’t look that thick will measure it tomorrow and order a genuine one.
  12. Hi all , has anyone had problems with the thickness of this seal LR055345 windscreen frame to bulkhead ? Asking before I splash out on a genuine one as I ordered one off eBay for the project and it doesn’t seem thick enough , when I fitted one to the 110 when I rebuilt that I can remember having to hang on the windscreen frame so I could screw the bolts into the window blocks , but this one I had to pull the frame down to make it seal . Asking as don’t want to spend £50 if tha new one is going to be exactly the same . cheers Ian
  13. I replaced all mine when I rebuilt the 110 but I did it with the tub removed , only other problem I can see you running into is the 2nd row seat belt mounts bolt through one of those supports , can't remember if it's that one or the next one back . Mine's a 200tdi and they were rusted to bugger think they either broke or I had to cut them off , and they were expensive to replace if I remember correctly .
  14. Right will set it up might take a week or so as I’m on afternoons next week and there might not be someone around to take the readings while I’m driving , asked as I didn’t know if people would think they were relevant as I don’t have a set of readings for the 110 in standard form .
  15. I think someone told me that the large brake pedal was needed for the mot as it was an auto , but again I might be mixing it up with something else . So do you think it would be ok if I cut the existing rubber pipe off then pushed tight fitting rubber hose on then secured it with p clips ot could clamps ?
  16. I notice that the Ashcroft kits use rubber hose and barbed fittings , was going to look if I could somehow use the solid pipes of the factory ones but fit new rubber hose . Am I correct in thinking that the system isn’t that high pressure, ? Due to the kits using barb fittings .
  17. The box came out of a running disco , the chap I brought it from rebuilds Land Rovers for a living and wanted the disco for the engine only to put in a ROW spec 110 he was rebuilding and he very kindly included all the bits in the sale . So I have the original disco oil cooler with the genuine pipes but I think I remember reading somewhere that the disc pipes are too long , but I may be getting mixed up , and the other problem I have is the oil cooler fins are corroded so needs replacing . I have been looking at aftermarket ones on eBay as there about £90 for a cooler and pipes , so haven’t made a definite plan yet . The box is going in a 90 I’m rebuilding and I’m just starting to put the engine and gearboxes in .
  18. The auto box came out of a disco , if I put the input gear on the shaft will it be obvious to me if I need to change the shaft Bowie ? Just to be sure .
  19. That’s what I was thinking but thought I’d ask what people thought.
  20. I’m so glad I asked that question, don’t remember seeing that bolt on my stumpy when it came from Ashcrofts for the 110 , so I need one of those shafts as my transfer box has a cross drilled input gear . Is it just a case of undoing that bolt pulling the shaft out pushing the new one in then replacing the bolt Bowie ? Is that a seal there do you know ? As there’s only one listed on the Ashcrofts website . cheers Ian
  21. Cheers all for the info it's much apricated , been tidying the box up today and have a few more questions . Firstly should the bolt be in the end of this shaft that goes into the transfer box ? And is the black bit a seal and is it advisable to replace it ? Secondly am I correct in thinking that the brown seal in the next photo is the torque converter seal ? And do any of you kind gents have part numbers for these seals ? cheers Ian
  22. Well in the interest of adding to this I brought this off ebay £20 , I'm running a slightly tweaked pump , uprated chra in the turbo and a full width allisport intercooler in the 110 200tdi does everyone think it would be a worthy experiment to put the thermocouple into the turbo pipes on that and see what the results come out at ? cheers Ian
