  1. Hi, Ive noticed recently that when accelerating in my 1.8 Petrol '03 there is a strange humming noise coming from the engine. When going through the gears, as I reach the limit point in each gear(2000-3000RPM) there is a gradual humming noise when accelarating, When engaging the clutch to change gear, the noise stops and returns as when I accelerate again. Any Ideas? thanks
  2. It was Crack tested, came back OK. I was told there was no need to skim it, bloke was a friend of friend so reliable. Just bought K-seal, man in store told me it was amazing stuff. I put it in and within 2-3 minutes the engine is no longer Idling eratically and water noise is almost non-existant! I know it wont be a long-term cure but will give me chance to shop around and prepare for replacement. Thanks Again.
  3. Thanks, I will try that. Ive never heard of it before, I take it, you pour it into the coolant tank? After which, how do I know if its worked? Is it just waiting to see if symptoms stop, Thats the thing about the Gasket, I suppose the only way of knowing 100% is looking at it. Im hoping this is the early stage of the failure so the seal may stop it. Thanks again.
  4. Hi, My 03 1.8 Freelanders Head Gasket blew on 30,000 miles. I had it replaced and looked to sell it on but didnt have the time (or Money) to do it straight away. It has now done 56,000 miles and I replaced the oil & filter 2 days ago. About a week ago, on start-up I heared water gushing around the engine and every time I start the ignition! I have topped up the coolant twice in the last couple of weeks( The level was just below the header tank)The car is idling eratically and the engine light was flashing today. When its running the car is fine. I checked the oil and it was hard to tell as the engine oil is new, It does however, seem to 'soak' into the paper cloth a bit too much! And has a slight 'rusty' colour on the dipstick. I think I know what the answer is just wanted someone to tell me, As I think the same symptoms occured last time. Thanks in advance
  5. I recently changed the oil & filter on my Freelander when I noticed there are a number of bolts missing from the under belly. They must not have been replaced by the garage after my new head gasket. I have the 2X 10 or 12mm bolts at the back and 3X 13mm bolts at the front, thats it!! Can anyone give me the sizes needed for the rest? Thanks
  6. Hi, I have a 03 freelander 1.8. The head gasket was changed less than a year ago.(Goes without saying!!) Lately Iv'e noticed after about 30 mins of driving, the water Temperature gauge drops all the way down and the fans start turning like mad and are very loud! I seem to remember this happening before the last gasket change, I wanted to know if they are related and what it could be? Thanks in advance.
