  1. I have a 90 2.5TD and even when the engine is cold there is still pressure in the expansion tank its been off the road now for 3 months while i do some work on it and I took the expansion cap off [which is new] and there was still pressure in the system. Is this something to worry about. I have checked the overflow pipe and its clear even tryed another cap but still the same. Any idea's welcome.
  2. Hello, Had some trouble with the fuel guage as it was always reading full, was told to change the guage which I did and I also changed the fuel pump as it was playing up but it still reads full and the only way to keep a check on the fuel level is with the trip and fuel light. Theres only 3 wires from the pump and thought I had put them on the wrong way but it still dont work after changing them around. Driving me mad. Cheers
  3. Hello Can anyone tell me if you can fit a Series 2/3 roof to a Defender 90. Cheers
  4. Thanks Les is it something that can be repaired or do I need a new pump
  5. Thanks for that but I have just changed the head gasket but the problem still persists
  6. I have a 1989 90 2.5td and am having problems with the fuel pump leaking from underneath and the engine seems to be hunting or missing on tick over also when its on tick over it seems to puff out blue smoke intermittently but when i am driving it seems to be clear of smoke until i stop for a short while. Could it be the pump causing the problem or maybe the injectors. any idea's appreciated.
  7. Thanks for the reply Les. Would that mean that my fuel system would be drawing air into it causing the hunting of the engine or is it nothing to be concerned about?
  8. I bought a 90 a year ago and have had to change most of the fuel system as the tank was leaking, but when I came to replace the tank the one on the 90 had been drilled to allow for an overflow pipe and so all the fuel lines were wrong and needed replacing. I was told that a diesel fitter had replaced the fuel pump with a new one and done the modifications. My problem is the engine is hunting and puffing out blue smoke each time it seems to miss, but when I drive there's very little smoke at all but I have found diesel fuel pooling on the engine mount bracket just under the pump but no fuel lines are leaking. Question, Has the fuel pump got a drain plug underneath as its very hard to see under the pump without taking it off. ? Crozzy
