I have the disc fitted to my Defender and can endorse
it fully , but have some friends with Discos who have
had some problems with space to fit the caliper .
Why did LR fit the Torx plug other than to focus attention on TF being used
in a manual gearbox . Have heard of several instants where hypoid was used
anyway , with disasterous results .
Fitted Paddocks version to my 300TDi 110 approx. 5000 mls. back .
Most of this distance touring in Eur. on the black stuff but about 300 mls.
off road mainly lanes with some more serious bits here & there . No problems
so far .
A press , particularly for removal , is a big help .
1994 300TDi CSW 105k . Replaced just about everything except engine
and diffs. and even the engine has some new bits , rocker shaft , rockers
and push rods .
Always wanted one from a very young age , dont know why as there is
no history of mental illness in the family . For one reason or another it
never happened although I drove series 109s at different times through
work . I eventually got "the one that I want" with retirement on the horizon
and have been from the sands of the Sahara tothe mud of the Baltic in it .
Was a long time coming but Ive never enjoyed anything more .
