Beware, (I've just bought one) it's great value for money but the section on 'electrics trouble-shooting' cannot be accessed.

My year 2000 4.6 Vogue has been giving me trouble with its central locking. 1/ the tailgate would sometimes refuse to open. 2/ the door locks would occasionally lock and unlock, several times, when in motion. With thanks to several forum sites, I have replaced the driver's door locking mechanism module and cured the problem. The task took me about an hour (from start to finish) since it required a fair amount of articulation to connect various rods and cables etc. The LandRover part number is FQJ 103260 and cost me £145 in tax. The locking is also far more positive than before. One word of advice: don't attempt to fit one unless you feel relaxed!

Can anyone confirm wether or not the driver's door lock contains a switch which allows the rear tailgate locking system to work when the door is open? I'm having intermittent locking problems with my tailgate and this may be the cause. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Gandy.

JUST BOUGHT A 1999 4.6 VOGUE. ALL IS FINE EXCEPT THE TAILGATE WILL OCCASIONALLY NOT OPEN. I'VE REPLACED FUSE 15 INCASE OF HAIRLINE CRACKS AND HAVE FITTED A NEW TAILGATE PUSH SWITCH. WHEN DRIVING, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL OCCASIONALLY CLOSE. THEY WILL OPEN FROM WITHIN OR VIA THE KEY FOB BUT AT THIS TIME THE TAILGATE REMAINS LOCKED. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS THE TAILGATE WILL OPERATE NORMALLY AGAIN.
