  1. Good luck with the rebuild. Chuck in the odd photo as you go along. It's always interesting to see other peep's projects.
  2. I'd say looking at the banjo, it is very much of the profile similar to the fuel filter. However, the pipes to the fuel filter/pump(s) are usually as a joined pair. As such, if it is a fuel filter pipe, probably been separated?
  3. Just noticed the banjo fitting on the other pipe. I'd be thinking more like the pipe to the filter. I'll take some more pictures later on that too.
  4. I'd be 99.999999% sure the top one is indeed the spill return pipe. Here's some images from our 300 Tdi
  5. Top one is spill return with the fuel pipe cut short. Bottom looks like breather. I'll nip into garage later and take some photos to help confirm.
  6. Perhaps once peeps have their shiny new plates and EGTs installed, we could collect and have a data sharing session? Defender model, engine type, speeds, gears, revs, workload, temps, etc...
  7. Instrument positioning feels like quite a personal choice. For me, the instruments that I look at most often are speed, rev, temp and fuel. These are in the main console. The boost, battery and EGT on the mini MUD console looked at less frequently. Only on long dual carriage way type hills does the EGT really start to show any movement around 500 to 600 Celsius. The battery gauge is useful to me as a indication of alternator working. Boost is useful every now and then to give an indication that the turbo is doing something and waste gate is set appropriately.
  8. Fitted one last year. Decided to weld the EGT boss at an angle to a blanking plate covering that is normally used for the EGR valve. In this way the EGT probe can get right into the middle of the exhaust gases without having to be bent. IMG_1547.MP4
  9. The beads for balancing sounds interesting. Anyone managed to source these in the UK?
  10. Sounds like decision time - Run without an immobilizer or determine which input to the immobilizer/immobilizer itself is misbehaving? In any case, sounds like significant progress šŸ˜‰
  11. Interested to see how you made that work. In particular if a re-bracket exercise of some chopping to wheel arches. Any pics would be awesome. Thanks.
  12. Did that involve much cutting of wheel arches, etc...? Interesting to see how you managed to make that work.
  13. Yep. The idea of getting more leg room has not gone away. Some jobs just take years to figure out...
  14. @TSD That appears to be a solution for the 40/60 seats on later Defenders as opposed to our earlier 3 single folding forward seats.
  15. Hi Folks, Looking for some "bracket arrangement" that could be fitted to our second row seats to provide more legroom. @western Noticed in some old threads (2017) that you mentioned fitting some brackets to your Landy. Are these still generally available? Google not revealing much. Perhaps I could fabricate if no longer available. Would be interested in their design. Thanks, Simon...
  16. I've sent the local dealer an email. It'll be interesting to see where this goes....
  17. Hi Folks, Just checking when my MOT expires on the https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and noticed a recall cited at the bottom. Defender 110 300 Tdi - 1997 Anyone else got experience of this. Simon...
  18. Iā€™d imagine it ensures tight enough seal to allow heat flow through the lower dash vent routing as opposed to leaking out. Perhaps more critical when trying to direct heat through to windscreen demisters.
  19. Hi Folks, Must confess, this had not been on my radar when driving in France earlier this year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-66449514 Wondering which rating a 1997 Defender 300Tdi would be? Thoughts? Anyone got any experience with this? Thanks, Simon...
  20. Having just done this on our 300Tdi, I can confirm that the extra holes are not needed. Happily can also confirm that we no longer have any oil leaks from the rear crank onto the garage floor. Some pictures to that may help. Having some threaded studs to act as guide pins helped to ensure a perfect alignment. Used the recommended sealant by Turners also for this specific job as stated on their website. Simon...
  21. For neat application, one of these definitely helps. Really precise delivery without any forearm workout.
  22. @PaulMc Thanks again for the information. New bullet connectors arrived - ended up getting ones which are 3.9mm. Managed to scavenge the older connector plastic housing which fitted nicely and finished off with some heat shrink wrap.
