Does a 300tdi have a cat?

For what its worth, my 110 came with a bonnet mounted spare, but I found that it restricted my vision when offroad. I purchased a Mantec rear carrier and appreciate getting the tire out of my vision and it is a bit easier to wrangle than when it was on the bonnet. I also like being able to fully open the bonnet when working on the engine, something not possible with the tire there. I think that with the Mantec I will be able to run a canvas top with a half side hinge rear door. All of the mountings are on the lower 'half' of the truck bed. On the roof...may be easy now, but what about in 10 years. : ) I find that the tires on my truck get heavier as I get closer to 60! Good luck!

I used PVC pipe. 2.5" with the rubber flexible connectors for maintenance, filter change, etc. Rigid, tough and cheap.

70 mph... More like 70kph! ...2.5na with a 1.67 transfer case...

Not wanting to quibble, but wouldn't some water be sucked into the snorkel through the inlet mushroom if it were raining?

14Platoon, Is there any provision in the bottom of your air filter housing to let out any water that gets sucked in by the snorkel? I have sealed off the bottom of my housing, but think that I need some sort of a one way valve to let any water out of the system so it doesn't make its way to the engine. Cheers, Colin

The ones I ordered were the right ones, but too small to fit into the stub axle without a big hammer. The supplier and I are having a bit of a discussion right now which is not going well for me.

I was happy to see that the contributions of First Nations veterans were well highlighted at the Remembrance Day observance that I attended. WW1 veterans were a focus for Mi'kmaq Heritage Month this past October in Nova Scotia. I am always impressed by the numbers of young people I see wearing poppies and participating in ceremonies and how seriously it is taken in our schools. Lest we Forget. C

Patience is a necessary 'tool' with these trucks. Mine is on jackstands in the driveway while I wait for rear bearings to finish a rear brake renewal. (The ones I ordered did/would not fit - another story for another time!) Cheers, C

Really like my Front Runner. I can stand on it as a shooting platform for photography. Easy to assemble. I put a short one (for a 90) on my 110. C

Red 90, The truck enjoys a restful winter as the salt storms on NS highways are pretty intense. I have a raised air intake on the LHS so space is at a premium there. In retrospect and given the price and quality of the hoses, I would have custom hoses made next time. The short hose from the box to the pump would not attach to the pump as the threads on the connector would not reach the female threads on the pump. I had to have a new connector put on the hose. I have contacted the supplier and am waiting to see if I get any response. C

Final installation with alternator in place. PAS Belt ETC5815 (Dayco 13A0725C) was too short so I used NAPA belt 7280 which is a narrower belt and works just fine. The shiny coating is Rust Check undercoating as this all will get muddy soon. I'll take the drop arm from the old steering box to have as a spare. Cheers, Colin

The flange that attached the steering box to the tie bar is thinner than the one on the manual box and I was too cheap to get shorter bolts, again. The reservoir mounting bracket is home made as I could not justify £58 for the proper bracket.

The PAS pump. NTC9070. with pulley attached. Do this before attaching the pump to the bracket unless you are a masochist! I had to drill new holes in the pump mounting plate in order to 'clock' the pump 45 degrees. Otherwise the hoses would be either blocked by the pump mounting bracket or the frame. C

Here are some shots of the conversion should anyone else want to convert to PAS. First shot is the bracket for the pump. The Alternator fits on top. Second shot is the comparison between the old 'armstrong' box and the new box. Third shot is the location on the frame where the new box will go. C
