  1. Hi I had a problem with my autobox and got sick and tired of putting it here there and everywhere with no luck, so i bit the bullet and put it in to get a recon box fitted, but, there alway's is they have phoned me telling me the oil cooler for the Auto box is leaking and needs a new one. I phoned Land rover to be told that it is obsolete now. So i have spent all day trying to find one with no luck. The garage they have one but it is from an earlier one but it is different mounting fittings due to it being an 06. Can anyone advise where i can get one new or second hand as long as it works. Thanks very much in advance for any response

  3. I HAVENT HAD IT ON A COMPUTER YET AS I STAY ABIT AWAY FROM ANYWHERE I CAN GET IT DONE AND NOW DONT WANT TO DRIVE IT NOW TILL I TRY AND GET IT FIXED AS PROBABLY ABOUT 20 MILES AWAY
  4. Hi i did an engine and auto swap on my 2006 td4 but since i swapped everything over i have problems with it seems like the auto box is overheating it will go into drive no problem although 2nd gear seems abit ify to change gear but after 5 mitles it looses drive forward and reverse let it cool down for ten mins and then it will drive again. I took it back and thought it might just be the rest of the old oil in the box still there, so drained it again and re-filled but put an extra 1/2 litre in. As i thought it might be overheating. Took it out again same problem again now it is coming up F4 can any one give me any advice on this problem or how to cure it please.
  5. I had the same problem with a Freelander i had a while ago took the prop of and ran it that way for years with no probs
  6. Hi i am in the middle fo doing a engine and auto gearbox swap over on a 2006 freelander but having a closer look at the auto box there is a leak coming from the seal on the shaft that comes out the gearbox where the torque convertor goes, i have contacted Land Rover dealership and they were about as much help as a wet paper bag. Can anyone advise where i might get one of these as was just about to put it into the freelander and is holding up till i can get the seal. thanks
  7. hi Tarc2man Yes i understand this but when i comes to Auto boxes it has always been a bit of a taboo with me as my mechanical skills are moderate at best a manual i would not hesitate opening and seeing if i could fix it but auto's i would not even know what to look for. I managed to get a box for £350 on fleebay so get it next week and am now just trying to find the engine code for the engine so i can order one. Thanks again for reply
  8. hi i have a 2006 freelander 1 but cannot find the engine code for love nor money, the engine is goosed in the td4 and i need to try and source another one. Another question when i get the other engine which will be a second hand unit will i need to change the injection pump are they a coded pump fitted on them from what iv read it is a M47R but not sure will a 113bhp work in a freelander am i right in thinking the M47R is the 131 bhp engine thanks
  9. Hi Tacr2man thanks for the response I had a rover 75 113bhp till the weekend and got rid of it as was planning on just keeping the tourer but now i have got the freelander wish i kept it as it is 113 engine that is in the freelander sods law. I am currently trying to get a low mileage engine of ebay and was going to fling it in. It was just if it had done auto box as well i thought i would of been better changing that when i was doing the engine. i go the freelander really cheap so spending the extra if needed for the box is still viable. the write up i read for removing the engine the boy removed the auto box as well is there enough room just to take the engine out thanks
  10. Hi everyone knewbie here to the forum. Over the years i have had a few freebies mainly diesels with no real problems apart from props and just general faults nothing major. I have just bought my wife a 2006 td4 Auto with a snapped chain on the engine, but, i have just checked the original listing for the vehicle and noticed it has a one man tow on it i never saw it before but now have. I know towing an Auto is a no no unless you take driveshafts and if fitted prop off for towing but think this one has. The engine i am competant for changing it over but not really sure about if i need to change the Auto box and if i need to the transfer box. Iv trawelled through the forum which is brill but could not really find anything on changing an auto box on a freelander. The main questions i have is what damage will towing a Freebie do, and does anyone have any info on swapping an Auto on one of these. Thanks for any response in advance.
