  1. Centrifugal , Not quite a turbo, but near enough!
  2. Cheers guys, B+E does look the way forward in the future. A quote from NTTA: Category B vehicles with larger trailers i.e. > 750kg, provided that the combined MAM does not exceed 3.5 tonnes and the gross MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle. To be able to tow combinations outside this ruling requires the passing of an additional test. I guess i can try to find a large size, low MAM trailer or just hire a transporter.
  3. I'm sure there's some one on here that can put me out of my misery. Excuse my gibberish, whilst i try explain what i mean When towing a trailer, does the GVWR of the trailer weight ( weight of trailer and its max load capacity rating combined , not its actual ) have to be lower than the towing vehicles recommended pulling weight? Even though the trailer + actual load is way bellow the recommended weight, and the train weight has a GVW less than 3500kg. For example. Car GVWR 1500kg Recomended towing weight 1300kg Trailer. GVWR 2000kg Actual trailer weight( with out load) 650kg. actual load on trailer 300kg. Therefore 650kg + 300kg = 950kg way bellow recommended 1300kg Thanks in advance Chris .
  4. Same as what i have on the t16, available from polevolt http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_20900_3.html Got loads of second hand ones on various looms if you need a pig tail.
  5. Thinking about it, the chassis number was present on the rail. I didn't think new chassis tended to come with any identity. If so then it could be the original that's been dipped.
  6. Cheers, thought it sounded unlikely. i guess another viewing is in order. Should have taken a picture!
  7. Guys i was having a nose at a defender on the weekend, that had been fitted with a brand new galvanised chassis a few years ago. I noticed a small crack (40mm long) in the rear cross member. It was located on the bottom edge, in a plate that reinforced the cross member welded to the rail. The crack was central in the plate and hadn't propagate from an edge. It seem slightly bulged outwards, and i wondered if it was a result of trapped air during the galvanising process? Has anyone else seen anything like this? A quick google suggests galvanising can be quite distructive some times! Cheers Chris
  8. Cheers, i will see if I can dig up some of his posts.
  9. I was thinking diesel to petrol as I would plan on transferring the rover t16 2.0 4cyl turbo pet engine from my series.
  10. This I'd great guys. I would have completely missed the lez issue. I think it may have been touched on. But is it impossible to change the fuel type. Or do you just hit a dvla brickwall of impossible goal posts?
  11. Cheers Guys, a lot of good stuff to consider here. Thanks
  12. Cheers guys. At present the idea is just vapour. You potentially, just saved me a lot of head ache. Sounds like im best off finding a rolling v8 csw Chassis that isnt completely knackered. Cheers Chris
  13. Change that, if it was a petrol it would negate the Lez issue ?
  14. i'd probably be looking at an early, 1980's defender. 2.5n/a era!
  15. Guys, i looking for some guidance. I'm trying to gather info on the technicalities of changing a land rover body type. In particular i'm wondering what the issues might be with trying to rebody a 110 pickup into a CSW. Is it just a paper work exercise with the dvla, or can it get a lot more messy? I'm sure some ones had experience of this, and can tell me if its even worth considering. Thanks for advance Chris
  16. I think your right. Damn why didn't i think of helicoils. Cheers
  17. Guys, Ive got a range rover swivel housing ( the bit the stub axle bolts to) that needs replacing due to a stripped thread. It has the number HRC 2057 on its steering arm, but nothing else. I've tried googling the number to identify the part. but not getting any results. Is there a way to identify it from this number? or am i just being incredibly stupid! Thanks for any help. Chris
  18. Damn i want an ibex.. Keep it up mike. My two nippers have stopped all garage play for the near future!
  19. Mike, What are you planning toe mount the seats on, are you using discovery range rovers frames, or fabbing something to suit? Cheers Chris
  20. Cheers Rickdulas spot on, aprreciated Thats the one western, yeah i guess your your right, i just see your width as my depth.
  21. Guys, Can anyone help! Does anyone know typically how wide( front of car to back) a second row door is for a csw 110 or even series 109 (i believe they are the same). Trying to thrash out vapour build idea! Cheers Chris
  22. Cheers. Based on the 110 plus 17 inches... the garage is 3cm too short Hi-cap, no chance of getting it in, or on the driveway... How did you find yours for day to day driving?
  23. Guys, On a 130/127 the hi-cap rear tub overhangs the rear crossmember. Does any one know off of the top the head by how much? Im trying to work out the total length of the Foley CSW/utiltiy 130's Thanks inadvance Chris
  24. Sounds like a great result. And looks made for a defender! If you don't mind me asking, how much do you estimate the total conversion has cost?
