  1. the usual assortment of old english hammers and spanners. anythin large and expensive such as an engine lift, i just hire it for the weekend. a manual winch can be used for lifting too. providing your beam is high enough! a mig welder is a very nice bit of kit for the shed. get some more hammers. a large pry bar, some cold chisels and an extra hammer.
  2. afaik its not possible to have a reg number allocated to make the vehicle appear younger. its highly unlikely to have been given a D reg if it was first registered in 1984.
  3. most likely the swivel joints. they need adjusting. insert or remove the shims. to get a 6lb loading/pulling force on them. use an old fishermans balance to measure it.
  4. nitromoores is the chemical solution. i found a wire brush (cup type) on the electric drill was great for removing paint layers. an orbital sander is the best for sanding down.
