  1. When I first converted my S3 to v8 I ended up without a spigot bush as all - the only result was an odd noise from time to time when depressing the clutch, however I looked at machining the crank end or making up a thin wall bush and when I dropped the engine out to replace the heads etc. I fitted a spigot bush adapter that meant cutting about 6mm off the crank end - to do this I simply dropped a bit of plate over the spigot and took it off the bit sticking out with the angle grinder. The gear change seems slightly smoother but its hard to tell.
  2. I'll try to take some pics this weekend as long as it's not tipping it down
  3. Like mickeyw I found the area under the load area would only allow a smallish 40L tank however unlike mickeyw I couldn't live with reducing the load area so fitted 2 tanks one under the load floor and the second under the seat box, opposite side to the petrol tank giving me 80L nominal capacity. I haven't found any real reduction in ground clearance and have yet to ground either tank despite using the landy offroad when ever possible. My only regret was not initially wiring the two tank cut offs separately.
  4. Given the right gas/flux & filler brazing alloy can be done with almost any heat source - some years ago I hand brazed some drain tubes into the corners of an aly pressed sunroof that was only 0.75mm before the stamping (2000 of the damn things in a week) and I did that with a gas set. Only thing to watch is there's normally only a small window between the filler melting into the joint and your work piece becoming a puddle
  5. Changed mine two weeks ago at the side of the road after the core finally died - only real difficulty was the oil cooler adapters didn't want to undo but from the look of the rad its the original. Took about 1 & 1/2 hours or so may have been quicker in daylight tho, I was very pleasantly suprized that everything undid without breaking i took the fan off and fitted a new thermostat at the same time the temperatures been much more consistant since with a much quicker warm up - carrying the fan for now in case she gets warm but have yet to see the guage go over half way even when towing.
