  1. Hi all A Mate (and I mean a mate not me honest) has a slight issue with his turbo its blowing oil out of the turbo air exit pipe (basicly other side of the turbo from the air intake). Now it looks like it's been a new ish unit as not rusted to heck so my quiuck once over think it more likly to be a gasket leak than a blown turbo as it still works though kicks out a black some on accel and towing (unload). Whats your thoughts and also if it is the turbo any cheap places to buy from ? (1 on ebay had a buy now of £150 but never sold). Many thanks in advance (I've told him he should join this forum!)
  2. After looking at the harness it has oil ingress in it. It has been cleared out as best he can but issue still happens (harness to ECU). What should be done replace it?? Any idea of cost and where the oil comes from? Many thanks
  3. Many thanks will have a look at his air pipes to ensure they have not gone soft / failing...... Always a possiblitly.
  4. Ok looks like I'm going to have to find a T4 unit with test book to bring home form somewhere!
  5. It gets service like clockwork my father is very pictular.. Check ECU for what flash updates / water ingress / ??
  6. Ok have a Disco 2 that when max revs is hit the vehicle cuts out? This can be done any time ands is pretty repeatable. Its not good when towing a caravan on the back and as your overtaking it cuts out!! Any ideas where to start, Many thanks my dad will love it fixed!!
  7. LOL Yer sounds rip off to me, as it would have flagged a code in the sys.
  8. mmmmm sounds nice but I think it may be a little out of my price range / budget
  9. Cool I will need to get more hammers I think...... Got already Soclet sets / Ring spanners / Trolley jack / 4 Axle stands / Spring compessors / Angle grinders, but it's anything else thats need or a nice to have.... Oooo Also need to get me a impact ratchet.
  10. Thanks for the response, My normal thinkning is I dont plan of taking it to the garage for anything. so looking at doing my own clutch changes, engine strip downs, welding, resporaying (be it paint / Waxol). Basicly the normal jobs of a defender, but being honest it's always better to have the tools there ready, instead of thinking carp I need to spend this on parts and also go buy myself the following list of tools as well to do the job.
  11. hi all currently looking at getting a earlier 90 defender, but looking at what tools I need to aquire. These are not the sockets but more like Engine hoist, compressor etc. If you can help with spec or recomendations (I already have a route to get a mig (good old dad)) Many thanks in advance
  12. not bad profit for the guy £12 !!!
