  1. the little cork one "yes" have bought a tgv to fit in there now so problem solved !!
  2. not much oil leaking but enough ! could not see any thing on mounting face but fitted 2nd seal with smeer of jointing compound. crankshaft hopfully is not out of alinement but you never know ! am going to blow out all breather pipes etc & try that route first hope for the best !
  3. i changed the cambelt & all the oil seals in front timing chest as well as the gasket between the timing chest & block. had the sump off & replaced with tube of genuine landrover gasket sealer. put it all back together & after 250miles had oil leaking from drain hole in front timing chest. removed it to find new crank seal leaking. so replaced it again along with another new cambelt ( due to oil contamination ) replaced breather on rocker cover with new one. now after 1000 miles have got small amount of oil coming from drain hole in timing chest again. engine has had new rings, conrods, big ends & mains & new head. has any body got any ideas as to why this is happing. any sugestions would be good as it is driving me mad. cheers.
  4. i have one of david's assit kits & think it is great. easy to fit , works great & easly removed for lots of road work.
  5. cheers jules watching a dvd that came with ausie offroading mag the other night only to see ally on there with his 90.
  6. i just bought another axle & swaped it over it is a lot quicker & at least you know that you have all the right parts & it will work. rember it is your brakes we are talking about.
  7. its realy easy, undo engine mounts, get a trolley jack (or bottle jack) and support the gearbox, undo bellhousing bolts but leave a few in for now, get your lifting crane and take the wieght of the engine. then remove the remaining bolts, lift up engine and jack up the bellhousing so its nearly touching the bulkhead, slide out engine mounts then if your lucky give the engine a riggle and out it will come. easy as that.... good luck
  8. is correct if you had not cut off plug the old one would have gone straight back on. never mind at least you will now next time
  9. i too have seen 265 75 16 bfgs fitted to standard wheel buy it is not to be recomended 7' rim are the norm. i have also seen them blow when fitted to standard rims & clean underware would def be needed.
  10. i just undid bolts holding down air cleaner bracket fitted bracket & re torqued bolts have done 10,000 miles since all ok. best to change cam belt & clutch as you said now is the time !!
