  1. Thanks fellas! I'll be checking this out soon, appreciate the starting point
  2. My battery icon warning light on the dash remains illuminated at all times in my 1988 LR 90. It used to extinguish a few seconds after I started the motor, now it stays on at all times. It's been like that for a few months now, and the alternator seems to be adequately charging the battery. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this?
  3. Hey all, Picked up a Marsland chassis last week (very impressed by the quality from Marsland) and will swap the chassis soon. I'm planning to do the standard bits (new brake lines, new bushings, new bumpstops) when I do the swap. I have a 1988, 2.5L Petrol 90 with 65,000 original miles; it runs solid but has a definite clank sound when you engage the clutch (more noticeable when from a standstill). My question is this: while I have the body off and since I have to remove and transfer over the complete drivetrain are there any big things I should definitely do while I have everything taken apart? New clutch maybe? New gearbox driveshaft maybe (wondering if worn splines are causing the clanking sound)? Love this forum, thanks for all the help and advice!
  4. I've worked on minor dent repair for steel body panels but have never done any body work on aluminum body panels. I'm prepping my early 90s LR Defender 90 for new paint, and am wondering if anybody knows of a good guide for basic aluminum body work and paint preparation? The questions I have are things like: what type of body filler is best used for the aluminum panels? What grit sandpaper do you use when sanding down aluminum? What type of etch primer is required before painting, etc? Thanks LRO!
  5. I'm setting the dynamic timing on my 1988 2.5L petrol but am getting conflicting advice as to whether I need to disconnect the vacuum advance when setting the timing? Should I disconnect the vacuum advance when setting the dynamic timing or leave it connected?
  6. Thanks fellas, all good advice. Disco-Ron, I was planning on separating the body from the rolling chassis with a lift, but I have yet to find a good set of instructions on how to do so, would you know of any?
  7. I'm going to swap my '88 LR 90 chassis with a new galvanized one - just wondering what other parts/pieces/bolts/clips you recommend I get before undertaking the project? I'd like to do the complete swap in one weekend and don't want to waste time with multiple trips to the parts store.
