got it started at last
now pumping out lots of black smoke afm on its way out ?
new plugs and a bit of a timing issue seems to have sorted the starting
still not starting up
have changed coil
dizzy cap
rotor arm
plugs
sometimes plugs are wet other times dry so checked the power resistor pack ohms readings low one minute then retry it again they go to the correct setting of 6 ohms
also flapper not always flapping
it sounds like it wants to start but just not right if you know what i mean
if i take the lt lead of the top of the dizzy put it near metal and move the rotor arm by hand it produces a spark from the coil and along the lead nice spark too
so is this correct or a problem
ok put new coil on as old one sparking about
still not starting question if you take of the dizzy cap ign on and move the rotor arm should the coil still send a spark down the lt lead as this is what i am getting.
fitted new potentiometer set it at 0.30v info says move throttle right open should read 4.5v only getting 3.7v would this cause non starting ?
cheers Tony
alarm imobiliser on this has all been taken out years ago
i think its a new coil needed as this one seems to be arcing out putting a spark across the terminals
Bosch one
yes it is a flapper
and when i move the flap with ign on you can here the pump however when i move the throttle not hearing the injectors click any ideas
this rangie is my dads one as he was driving home the main beam stopped working and then it started to misfire
got it home stopped it and tried to restart it but it just kept turning over and would not start
also headgasket on one side had gone so engine was stripped down and then rebuilt put it all back together and still not starting.
not sure if the dim dip pack can stop it from starting
Hi Guys
RR 3.5efi 1988 model just wont start have fuel and spark
have tried all the the tests with multimeter from the tech archive still no joy
so could it be the coil or amp on dizzy as i am getting some unusal readings from these e.g from batt to coil the book says
meter should read zero but i have 12.8 volts turn on ignition this goes down to 00.2 as you crank it over it goes up to 3 volts
so any ideas
cheers tony
