  1. yup! but wifey is coming with.... didnt stop me last time we are going in a car and van cos theres me, dad, nic, cat, kev and you going!
  2. I was just going off my personal experience of using the clarke lifting gear, i think i had to take my jack back about 3 times before i gave up and binned it, i know a few people who had the same experience, as for brand snobbery, all my clarke stuff seemed to work well initially then go rapidly down hill so i stopped buying it, if i need new tools now i get halford pro. they have a lifetime guarantee, the cheap yellow halfords trolley jack i bought when i started working on cars aged 14 is still going strong despite some seriously heavy use! Have to agree Les, i too have a small jack collection and some ramps, i seem to find myself collecting axle stands too... i think i have about 9 sets, pity they are all 'trapped' under other peoples projects
  3. Hi Forget clarke its cr@p! if you go to costco they are selling a 3ton super low height quick lift jack, its £57 and if you lift a 109 under the front diff it will lift it till theres about 10" under the front tyres! This jack seems very well made and comes with a 2 yr warranty i think Mike
  4. No probs pete, as it happens mr hobbit is meeting me with my bulkhead anyway so no bother at all! I'll leave it at XXXXXX in davenham and you can collect when you like... Mike
  5. Hi Pete if you can get it to old sod i'll take it to davenham for you Mike
  6. Hi Now its getting close to sodbury, is it time to start the forum parts relay? I will be taking an empty transit from northwich in cheshire down the M6 via birmingham if anyone wants anything picking up? (No industrial TIG welders please ) Would anyone be able to bring a bulkhead for me from bridport in dorset to old sod for suitable beer money? Ta Mike ps mods sorry if this is in the wrong section!
  7. I'm going in a transit, like last time, was going to go in my 110 but my sister just bought a 109 in need of some restoration
  8. Just to put my thinking outside the box hat on... if you only make occasional short journeys, could you do a bit of machining work and replace your bearings with bushes made of that super duper hard self lubing plastic stuff? I guess it depends how heavy a rib is? maybe a triple axle? feel free to mock my lack of boaty knowledge Mike
  9. I'm going from northwich to birmingham on sunday if i can help let me know! Nice to see you pete I only live in Davenham Mike
  10. sorry for slight hijack but who is it that sells galv series ones? mike
  11. Thats terrible news, I never met Gresh but he helped me loads on LRO, My thoughts are with him and his family. Mike
  12. Hi I'm probably going, If so I'll be heading down the M6 so could prob collect on my way through, Its got to be lighter than Nigels tig welder of doom Mike
  13. Hi Have you got the special tool? if not you can try the rope trick using synthetic poly rope? i used 3 hands a couple of flat screwdrivers and lots of wd40 to get mine in Mike
  14. yep you definately get to see how well made they are when you have to try and shift them
  15. Another vote for portamig here, i have a 181, its about as good as you'll get in a non-pro scenario, I would definately recommend them, get one off a guy called 'weldequip' off the mig welding forum, very good service! Mike
  16. That seems like the best plan, right anyone know if these clip in rear seat belts are still available? Any idea of part number? I think this one might test ralph! Mike
  17. Hi gromit, if you want to drill there you'll probably have to remove the manifold anyway Its very quick and easy to remove, and i'll second the bit about removing the turbo, i'm refitting mine after a recon cos something got in it and ate it! Pardon me if i'm being an idiot cos i know nothing about egt sensors but could you put it in the elbow just after the turbo? then you could drill and tap and the sensor would be more accessible there too? Mike
  18. Hi, certainly for the next year or two there will be a full size child seat in it, hopefully by then the older one will have grown enough not need a booster seat, with any luck regarding the sealtbelt receptacle, this is mounted solidly to the floor, meaning when you fold the seat up your left with the receptacle in the middle of the load bed floor, which seems to me to be asking for it to get trashed, what are the panels thoughts on some sort of suitably rated quick release, eg a steel screwgate karabiner (4T load) so that only the mounting plate is left behind? obviously the mount is tested in shear with the friction provided by the bolt fixing, so how about normal bolt through beefy plate with krab hole in that links to floor mount? Its not a massive prob to have the receptacle on the floor i'm just trying to think outside the box Mike
  19. Hi Could you not buy the treadplate and do it yourself? Its easy to cut with a jigsaw and then you can save yourself some £££ and know that it was done properly, failing that if you dropped into an engineering firm/fabricators with some cash and beer you could probably get one made bespoke and still cheaper? Mike
  20. I think i'll get one of those spangly ebay ones when i (finally) get into my new workshop, looks ideal for doing clean things on like engines/diffs etc. The one i use now was built by vanny for me and is very sturdy its 8ftx2ft and the right height, just made from 2x4s and a double ply top bout 2" thick with 16g galv steel skin on top. i also got a massive record vice off ebay for a fiver
  21. ill do em the same as the ones in my def, standard seatbelt bolts and nut through 5" square 6mm plate spreaders i'm puttin in an internal half cage aswell so will be able to have a decent top mount too, cant help thinking in my over cynical way that the only seats approved, ie the only ones sent for testing to be approved were the £500 ones... mike
  22. Hi The trakker fold up front facing seat from exmoor trim locks in the upright position so any reason why it cant be used with child seat? They say only their lock fold one (£500+) is impact approved for new vehicles, does this mean that these rules dont apply if they are being fitted in a series 3? in a crash head on the force is resisted by the 3 point seatbelt not the seat? therefore using the normal folding seat shouldnt be a problem, would it be better if the seat was modified to be more securely locked upright? Failing that does anybody know whether 2 child seats will fit in the front on the pass and middle seat? My sisters getting a series 3 to go camping in with her 1 and 3 year olds so any help much appreciated, before anyone says just pay the money and get the expensive seat thats not an option as way out of budget, Thanks Mike
  23. lol you could put a drip tray underneath and fill it up again when it pours past all the seals
