  1. Hi Has anybody any experience of repairing doors? All three doors on my 110 are getting very dodgy! They will pass MOT but i'm getting towards the end of a year long rebuild and will soon be respraying the car, obviously I dont want to waste time and paint on doors that will need replacing soon.... fair enough you say but why dont I just go and buy new doors? Answer to that is that after year of rebuilding the budget wont stretch! Even to most 2nd hand as for some reason push button doors are worth more than gold apparently So basically is it feasible/possible to remove the skin without damaging it, repair/replace the frame and then reattach the skin or will I never take it alive? Does anybody supply new frames? Does anybody have any new doors they want to donate i know... unlikely! If anyone has and good ideas on how to rebuild doors on a shoestring then I'd love to hear from you! Thanks Mike
  2. Not LR related but i did once see a darlek drive past me in the back of a pick up! mike
  3. Hi Have you considered purchasing a brand new galvanised chassis from somewhere like richards or marsland? IIRC they do an uprated 110 chassis in 3mm steel vs LR standard 2mm, it will probably cost you much less than a wolf too, your looking at about 1200 quid for the chassis i think? You could then drop your big engine in etc and just put it through the SVA? Mike
  4. Hi Dont know if its same for all defenders but on mine the bolt holes in the wing are cut out so they make slots... the top one is a proper hole though. It means you can put most of the hard to reach bolts in first leaving a few turns left then slide the wing onto them, saves a lot of faffing! Mike
  5. Hi Cage looks really nice! Could the window issue have been resolved with a sliding one from a CSW? runs for cover... Mike
  6. Hi Any ideas as to how much of a faff its likely to be and how much the necessary bits are going to cost? My 110s been off the road for 8 months now for a major rebuild so I guess nows the time to do it! mike
  7. Hello everyone, Just wondering if its possible/feasible/economical to retro fit air con to a 200 tdi? Has anyone tried it? I realise I would have to get it professionally charged etc... Thanks Mike
  8. Hi Good luck with your chassis swap, I started mine in mid october and its nearly finished! just a piece of advice... it makes life a lot easier if you get stocks of replacement bolts nuts & other fixings, then any stubborn bits can be ground off quickly, the chassis brackets and tub are mainly M8, M10 and M12. there are some wierd sizes in there aswell so I keep metre lengths of M8,10,12 coarse thread stainless studding, that way i can make a replacement bolt for length. just make sure that they are all at least 8.8 stamped, (more for things like recovery points etc..) finally go to your local chinese takeaway and eat sufficient food to provide lots of little boxes you can put screws etc in! HTH Mike
