  1. Personally i would go to the local scrap yard, my local one does them for £20 in working order, and if you get through 5 your break even (there is something else wrong )
  2. be careful with a pressure washer and radiators because they can blow the fins out of them, out one certainly would but it is an industrial farm one, personally if i were you i would go for a fair decent one from an auction or farm sale austion, some thing like that, they are fairly common and will be less than £100 secound hand, i mean ours looks old crappy and rust but it alot better than the modern plastic one's,
  3. Frist thing to think about is, how long have the shocks been on there as they often prove very difficult to remove (well mine did) and i had to cut them off which means you may need some new shocks to hand, the rest off it, well it is a land rover so if everything undoes nicely you have the break pipes, propshaft, springs, shocks, and probably more as i have never done this, not sure if the brake hoses are different on a disc braked axle, hope this helps
  4. spot on ralf, because i went and had another look and did exactly what you said, all be it before i read your reply but all done now, both front wings off and modified engine mounts being made tomorrow or monday, thanks for all the reply's
  5. Yes i have done that, but there is some plastic cowling type stuff that goes from the top air intake and the side air intake which block the 4 bolts, and i do not fancy removing the heater matrix box to get that out
  6. I am trying to remove my defender wing, it is a 1985 110, I can not get to the 4 bolts across the back which sercure it to the bulkhead because the snorkel air intake is in the way, Do i have to remove the heater box to remove the air intake stuff so i can get to the 4 bolts or is there another way? thank you
  7. take it to your local grage and ask for an emissions test, my garage did me one on my defender with a td for £10, that was quite smokey but passed easily
  8. I would personally go with the TD5, they seem to pull better for us when we have another land rover on the ifor and i think they are nicer to drive on the road, but for you it may not be worth the extra £2000, but at the end of the day if the land rovers are 4 years different in age you are paying £500 more for each year of age,
  9. sorry if this is a silly question but will disco one's fit into a series axle, i am guessing now but worth a shot? thanks
  10. only a silly little question but do you need engine conversion mounts to fit a disco tdi engine to a series 3 and are they available or how much do they cost? thanks
  11. we hired a car transporter from the car auction, it was £200 for the day which was not too bad to pick up out 110 td5 which had been released from the MOD, local van hireing places will not be too bad, try that, good luck
  12. How can a land rover be registered as an agricultural vehicle, and if so i take it you can use red diesel and will be tax free? any help appricaiated,
  13. yup, mine did the same at 109,000 miles, except the engine is on the floor next to the car, will see what happens, think i am going for a daihatasu conversion,
  14. I am 18 and have a full uk driivng license, i think i can tow a small trailer with a limited weight, does anyone know the limits or how old you have to be to take a test to upgrade to larger tailers or a 12 seater vehicle, also are 110's with 12 seats labelled as 12 seaters on the V5 or can the rear seats be removed and insure it as a 5 seater? any help will be appreciated, charlie
  15. he hould have taken all the photos like the 2nd one, again, just why ,
  16. in my series 2 the earth cable corroded inside the insulation, which was making it difficult to start, took a while to work that one out as the cable looked fine from the outside, good luck
  17. my dad's td5 did this, i took it to mansfield 4x4 and they cleared Faults on the ecu and it worked fine again
  18. hmmm, well the diahatsu transfer box i have does not have a transmission hand break, is there a transfer box from a daihatsu that did have one fitted?
  19. does anyone know if this will go with a daihatsu gearbox into a series 3 as it has selectable 4wd and 2wd and it also has a transmition hand brake? thanks
  20. it looks to be like someone has been careless with a pressure washer
