  1. Yes I'm turning it the right way I've even tried turning it the 'wrong' way to try and break whatevers holding it in.
  2. Thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna have to weld a nut/stubby bolt on I think and see how we go. Is there any chance that by doing so an using more force to undo the plug that i could split or crack the g'box casing?
  3. There is nothing to lamp a socket onto. This isnt a sump plug that has a nut on it. The nut is if yoiu like inverted into the plug, does that make sense?
  4. This question relates to my Nissan Terrano which I use for Greenlaning. My g'box has become noisy and so I thought I would check the oil level in the box. The plug is undone by using a 14mm square tool that fits into the plug. The plug was stuck tight and using a bit of leverage ended up breaking the tool I was using but I thought persevere a bit and see if things improved. whats actually happened is that the tool has now 'rounded' the fitting on the plug. So how would you now go about removing the plug from the g'box? Weld a short bolt onto the plug? Weld a nut onto the plug? Anything else? Nath
  5. I have read about this before using your food covered in tin foil and using metal tie wraps to secure it to the manifold.
  6. I'll be there mostly on the CRAG stand but i'll have a good look around the other stands too.
  7. Done it a couple of times in a standard disco 200, so you'll have no problem during the summer. UNLESS theres been persistent heavy rain in the days before you drive it.
  8. Insured my lightly nodded non LR 4x4 last Friday. TPFT £368 with A. Flux Tried an online quote with Frank Pickles and thay came back with £131 for the same cover. Frank Pickles Insurance Went back to A. Flux and after providing evidence of the F Pickles quote they have insured me for £122 It pays to shop around.
  9. Haven't looked at a HWC for about 19 years but got 27/30 first time. Wifey did it and got 26/30 14 yr old daughter and 11 yr old son did it and got 22. I think thats great.
  10. I registered on LR's website and was offered a complimentary 1/2 day experience at a centre of my choice, so I booked in @ Snowdon during a camping hol and drove a Disco 3 for the morning. I recently had another 1/2 day complimentary experience @ Eastnor and I chose to drive the Defender. Great fun. At both sites the instructors realised that I wasn't there to buy a new LR but that I enjoyed Greenalning and wanted to drive a product I would buy if able
  11. I've used K-Seal a couple of times in the past. Does a really good job of a temporary repair.
  12. Its already sucked my wig in now its trying to get my arm too.
  13. TJ 101 that bottom picture looks like it could be Manifold Valley
  14. Reggie that looks great! How does it drive? Any rubbing or catching at all? It looks like it might need a touch more taking from the back doors but you'll know when you come to fit the arches.
  15. The forst pics are near Welshpool aren't they?
  16. North Wales ahs many greenlanes to be driven responsibly. Places to play are different and I dont know of anywhere, but others on here may.
  17. That looks good Russ. What diameter pipe did you use, what bends, any flexi?
  18. Its been a few thousand miles now since doing the conversion and i'm very happy with it still. I've increased the boost to 16psi and increased the fuelling too Heres a few pics of the job done.
  19. [quote I'm a member of glass, and have to say that whilst its a good organisation they dont seem to have been very pro-active with NERC and things. Certainly from a public facing point of view CRAG seem to be doing a great deal more Exactly why I chose to support CRAG rather than GLASS. This is the first organisation ive joined by the way.
  20. A few pump adjustments, as discussed in detrail on this furum, made the world of difference to my 200tdi.
  21. picture Noticed today that my steering wheel on Disco 1 can be pulled towards me and then pushed back toward the cowling again, its non adjustable by the way. I looked at the shaft in the engine bay tonight as SWMBO pushed and pulled and she looked as I did the same. The only place we could see any movement was in the rubber section of the shaft near its connection to the steering box, ive tried to show it in the picture. Are there any other joints inside the car I need to look at or does this rubber sound right as the problem?
  22. Thanks Geoff. Waveydavey, I was expecting only 3-5 bhp more so the ic alone isnt really gonna make a difference to performance. I have done the ip adjustments though and thats made a big big difference. I have found that since fitting the ic I havent reached peak boost but have found that the weld on the u-pipe is blowing very slightly so i guess this is where the loss of boost is coming from.
