  1. Hi, I have the well documented problem with the oil temp over heat red light coming on when towing up inclines. I am going to put a temperature indicator strip (50mm x 18mm) to check the real Temp. Can someone advise the best place to put this. I’m thinking maybe on the Oil flow pipe where it comes out of the Gearbox ? Which one is flow? And how many degrees do I need to add to the indicated temp compensate between the oil inside the pipe and the temp sensed on the outside of the pipe. I have some doubt as to whether the warning light is telling the truth.
  2. Hi, I suspect these codes are just glitches I have cleared them. 3069 MI Lamp open/load- 3070 Glow plug lamp open / load- 3217 Injector 5 open circuit logged. every thing appears to be working ok, I certainly don't think Injector 5 is off. Can someone explain why the codes don't relate to the P codes you find on the internet, are they special in some way, can they be cross referenced to the P codes?
  3. Hi, I like the idea of a separate temp gauge, Thanks for the other help forgot about the handbook will try 2 or 3 next, My own thoughts after I look into the other suggestions might be to wire in the existing AC condenser fan (electric fitted in front of condenser) to a manual switch, this appears to have a dual function anyways (AC and fired from engine ECU for coolant o/h) I wonder why landrover never thought to give it a 3rd function from the G/B oil temp.
  4. Hi, Keep getting transmission oil temperature light coming on (auto Box) Discovery 2 TD5 , happens when towing trailer 1-2 horses, We stop till it go's out and then set away again once it gets warmed up it happens more often. where's the best place to start with this one. I don't think there's any way to measure the actual temperature.
  5. Hi, Got it off the dealer Free
  6. Hi, Anyone know if it is possible to read the EKA code using the Lynx or (Hawkeye similar menus). There isn't a section BeCM (Body Electronics) for security as per Range Rover. On the discovery 2 there is a EKA in the BCU Programming section but it only sets EKA to on or Off. I don't want to go to the Stealer. Bought the vehicle second hand. Thanks
  7. Hi, Well I did as you suggested and sure enough when I got to item 33 of 33 up pops a confirm yes or no box, why on earth is this not in the user manual and more worrying that Omitech them selves not advise on this. I think you are right in what you said. I wonder how much these tech support people get paid to sent out duff info. I am tempted to email them back and let them know what I think. I didn't write the changed option as I have read it is wise to make a note of all the other settings before doing so, whether this can be done by saving a backup file I'm not sure as once again it not mentioned in the user manual. Any idea why just one of the direction indicator switches doesn't change state even though they both work correctly Thanks
  8. The button that's supposed to confirm the changes is the same button that toggles the option (according to the user guide). This is what I'm doing - Go into security module / go to special functions/ use the scroll up down buttons/ go to (for eg) option 13 of 33 which is courtesy headlights on or off / then I press this button (5) which has a tick logo on it / this button toggles the option (13) headlights on or headlights off / But the guide says to use this button (5) to confirm the selection, and that's what I can't understand as it only toggles the selection. I can't at the moment see any other way to confirm. If I set the option to say OFF (was originally on) and exit the lynx it doesn't write the new setting to the BCU and reverts back to on. The lynx is certainly reading from the BCU as I can see switch inputs changing but saying that, both LH and RH direction indicator switches wire directly to the BCU but it only reports the LH as changing, yet the indicators work fine on the vehicle. I agree with what you said about the unit not been locked as that was my understanding until Omitech confused the issue.
  9. Hi, Omitech emailed today and said if the BCU is locked then the Lynx can't make any changes
  10. Hi, I will have a closer look, but this is a copy of info received from Omitech support. "a BCU Module can only be programmed when it is unlocked a locked unit can't be programmed the unit is locked from factory the Lynx won't open a locked unit" So does this mean I can't make any changes Not too happy about the Lynx
  11. Just bought the same bit of kit, read codes and erased OK, Tried some activation checks worked fine, but can't seem to get it to program simple things like curtesy headlights on or off. Britool and Omiga not much help to be honest. I'm pleased we have this forum
  12. Just bought this, Got the unlock code, connected up seems to communicate fine, however 2 problems. I wanted to try some simple programming so I tried to switch OFF the courtesy headlights, the lynx shows 2 options and it changes them on the laptop but it won't do it for real, when I come out and go back in it has reverted back to the original settings. button 5 is suppose to change the option and or send the command What am I doing wrong ? Problem 2 The direction indicator switch works fine and energises the relays which in turn flashes the indicators however the software doesn't see the LH switch change, RH switch is reported OK. strange! , both switches feed directly into the BCU.
