  1. Try a new battery ... red light indicates not accepting charge
  2. My 2008 Tdci has developed a similar issue as mentioned in When locking my landy using the fob it immediately unlocks and sounds the alarm. It happened occasionally over the past few months but recently it has happened more and more regularly. Now I cannot lock the landy using the fob - the key also will not turn in the lock. I have taken the door panel off this afternoon and lubricated the lock in case this has seized (unlikely?). Next step is a new drivers door accuator unless I have missed something?
  3. A story of hope indeed ... no sign of mine ... probably dispersed in bits at the Newbury Jumble ... put the £4.5K I got from the insurers into this
  4. Came across this on the Wiltshire Police website - looks like an organised gang are at work; Wiltshire police have seen a recent increase in the theft of Land Rover Defenders across Wiltshire but predominantly from rural locations. Some of the vehicles have been recovered burnt out, but others have not been located. The vehicles being stolen are predominantly L, M, N and P registration plated vehicles, which were all manufactured prior to immobilisers being factory fitted as standard. Sergeant Andrea Faircloth from the rural crime team said: ‘These types of vehicles are relied on heavily by members of the rural and farming communities, therefore these thefts are not only inconvenient but they also disrupt their livelihood. The rural crime team would like to hear from anyone with information regarding these thefts.’ The Wiltshire Police Community Affairs Department have issued the following advice: • Secure your vehicle at all times, even when parked up outside your home • If you don’t have any security features built into your vehicle, invest in some additional ones. Make sure the products conform to British standards, a good start would be to have a look at the Sold Secure website • If you cannot park your vehicle in a garage or behind closed gates, park your vehicle in a well lit area in the curtilage of your property, preferably in an area where it is overlooked • Having a full tank of fuel provides thieves with more opportunities • Make sure your number plates are clean and easily visible, this makes it easier for police to spot it if stolen, and for witnesses to clearly see it if it is seen in suspicious circumstances • Always report anything suspicious as soon as possible The rural crime team are based throughout Wiltshire and would like to hear from anyone with any information relating to these or any crimes, they can be contacted on 0845 408 7000 ext 723548 or ruralcrimeteam@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk, or if an incident is in progress dial I also saw a police report from South Oxfordshire saying there had been 8 stolen in the Vale since Xmas!!
  5. Nice looking Landy - really eye catching .. you think they would steal something less distinctive - fingers crossed for you.
  6. My thanks go to Si for looking into my own case - if and when my insurance cheque comes through this month, I've seriously given some thought to whether I really want another 90 ... it was part of the family and even though I knew it was vunerable to theft it was really painful to have it stolen. Reading the posts about trackers has made feel that this would be the best option ... does anyone with a tracker advertise the fact? (i.e tracker fitted!!) or would that be self defeating!!
  7. Thanks for your messages of support - if and when I get back on the road it's tempting to hide a tracker, leave my Landy parked up in Newbury and crack this ring once and for all!!
  8. Thanks Ian and I'm glad your spare wheel was still there when you got back!!
  9. Just got in .... lift home from my brother - we had a good drive around Newbury / Thatcham before setting off home but no sign ... not the greatest day! But thanks for your advice and sympathy ... . I've added a couple of photos to my gallery. It's typical after a summer of intention I finally found the time this week to give my landy a good service and even fitted a new prop shaft on Friday - here's hoping I didn't tighten everything up and it falls off ... fingers crossed!
  10. Keeping my fingers crossed that my Landy turns up!

  11. Stolen Blue Defender 90 (300TDi) - White Roof - foward facing rear seats with a Crystal Palace sticker in the rear window! Just over 200k on the clock and had it for ten years so upsetting for the kids as it was part of the family Number plate L837 OSG Taken from Newbury, Berks, UK on 20th/21st February
  12. Checked with Wolstons - unable to provide lower shock bracket seperately as the no longer have a contact at the manufacturers anymore but can supply a duel shock kit for £70ish which contains two brackets - I'm going to try a local blacksmith first to get some made up - thanks for your help.
  13. Thanks for this Phil - would you happen to have the contact details for Woolston 4x4?
  14. My Def 90 is suffering for a broken rear shock mounting bracket - it's the lower bracket that connects the shock absorber to the rear axle. It was previously holed (rust) and has now given away completely. Is it possible to buy / weald on a replacement bracket? It's been suggested that I consider replacing the whole rear axle as its slowly being eaten away.
