  1. Geoff.... You have a pm. Ian
  2. This ones quite impressive.... Ian
  3. This website: http://www.web-rover.co.uk/nav.php?p=articles/alloys The other option is to run a set of wheel spacers - ideally steel hub-centric ones, not the plain flat ones. This will allow the wheel centre to clear the centre of the hub. Also look better IMHO as the off set of boost alloy isn't that much. Ian
  4. Someone on LRUK has just fitted a Performace and Protection cage to his 110".... Have attached a few pics: From here: http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=72764 Ian
  5. Stock engine= 111bhp at 1 bar Big intercooler, properly set up pump, standard ish boost and you'd be looking at about 145bhp. Raise boost to 1.5 bar and increase fueling to suit - properly set up with matched injectors, a decent intercooler, a better exhaust and you'll probably be getting 180bhp or slightly more. Ported head, better intake, straight through exhaust, modified injector pump (larger internals), matched injectors, possibly a 'tweaked' cam (or one that does what it's supposed with reagrds to lift etc) a wired block to cope with increased cylinder pressures, and a better turbo..... Going big on a turbo is ok, but then you end up with loads of lag... not really what you want from a diesel engine that doesn't really rev that high... would probably be better with a VNT. With this you'd get 200bhp or possibly a shade over. Torque would also be high. Then you could start playing with LPG/Propane or even nitrous... this probably wouldn't help that much... apart from helping the engine go bang earlier. But you'd have to watch cyilnder pressures and EGT... That's just my opinion though, so I may be proved wrong. We could start comparing bmep's etc etc Ian
  6. Even with all that, I reckon you struggle to break 200bhp.....
  7. Might also be worth a phone call or email to Dave Marsh at QT - http://www.qtservices.co.uk Ian
  8. Like the ones from QT.... Or they do another type which bolts to the same bolts as the steering box (part of the 3 link kit - the ones above are from the Weekender kit) Ian
  9. I'm after a detachable tow hitch for my 90 (300Tdi).... but which ones best??? Getting fed up having to fit and remove my Dixon Bate affair depending on whether I'm going off roading, or towing my trailer. The two options seem to be: The Southdown jobbie (www.southdown4x4.co.uk) or the one from Safari Equip (www.safari-equip.co.uk) AFAIK the Safari Equip tow hitch is the same as the Scorpion Racing one - but I'd rather buy from Safari. Price wise: Southdown: £217 all in Safari Equip: £147 + postage Any one got any other suggestions for suppliers, or has any one used either of the above - good/bad points. (or has any one got one for sale???) Being a bit strapped for cash at the moment, the Safari one is looking appealing. Ian
  10. Why bother?? it just adds something else that can go wrong..... why not just keep the 'hold the key' set up?? In all honesty you hardly ever need to bother with the glow plugs on a 200 or 300Tdi. On the 200Tdi conversions I've done, I've just left all the glow plug wiring standard, much easier and one less thing not to break. Though that's obviously just my opinion. Ian
  11. Just make sure you weld it on square though.... not at an angle
  12. Got my 90 back from Chris at www.exactfabrication.co.uk on Friday... It has now got a full stainless 2.5" side exit exhaust, and unlike most other custom exhaust places it is fully TIG welded (very well!!!) and not just MIG'd... is also of a higher grade/better stainless than most other stainless exhausts on the market. Whilst not overly loud, the exhaust note is quite cheeky but not too intrusive.... but brings a smile to my face especially through tunnels!!! I can not rate Chris enough... the standard of the work is 110% (as was the service) and as with any good product, the quality is in the detail - like the use of stainless steel fixings, the quick release mounting etc etc. He even makes the silencer from scratch! Even better, the exhaust is at the right height to give a quick blast of black smoke into the window of a chav's Corsa!!! B) Ian
  13. Was that the rear roll cage section that he was selling on Ebay not that long ago???.... This one infact: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Perhaps the £300 Buy it now was to pay you back??? Ian
  14. You can actually buy one from Land Rover... They do two types: Part number: STC8051 Which requires a nut and bolt to remove the swan neck tow hitch (the same type as used on a Disco 3) But you are still left with a drop plate that hangs down. But they also do one for the Australian spec Td5's. Which looks vitually the same as the one from Scorpian's.... LR part number: RAA621 - your local dealer should be able to order one... I keep meaning to try just out of a matter of interest. The thing is it comes as a reciever type hitch (same a NAS) so you could either get one of the those bolt on type ball sockets... or I think (but would need to check) you could use the drop plate assembly off a RR - as one of the UK type tow hitches uses a very similar looking NAS type reciever hitch. Which is part number: VUB000720 (or try someone like Equicar) Ian
  15. The Devon one: http://www.devon4x4.com/shop.php?mode=prod...at=24&subcat=33 In all honesty, probably cheaper than getting some one to make it for you. Ian
  16. Yep it can be removed without messing with anything else, but you need tool: LRT-12-045 which you use along with the normal injector pump locking pin (or a 10mm drill bit) Basically a circular plate that bolts on the injector pump pulley - then you just remove the pump from the back. Is covered in the workshop manual. The tool is something I keep meaning to buy.... but haven't got round to yet! Can email a copy of the manual if needed. Ian
  17. That roll cage just looks wrong to me.... I'd rather spend my money with Extact Fabrications (NorthenChirs), North Off Road, QT, DirtyDiesel (on here), Whitbread etc etc who actually make roll cages that look they'll do something. And one that fits closer to the body. Ian
  18. Kenson do a nice range of high angle props (complete with longer sliders).... Tel: 0121 505 3668 Haven't got one, but have always been impressed with other their other products.... and they are not orange! Ian
  19. lol When did you want my motor.... have dropped you a pm. Ian
  20. Looks good!! Is it legal for your rear lighs to be where they are?? (looking at the pics in the other thread) Unless I'm mistaked, the rear side light/brake light and the indicator must be within 400mm of the outside of the vehicle. I could go an measure my 90 to work out where yours are.... but I can't be bothered! And where's the fog light?? (from here:http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1989/Uksi_19891796_en_1.htm) Have you got plans for the front too?? And don't be getting bored when you've got my 90!!! Ian
  21. What the 'eck is that truck????? Another pic: Ian
  22. Outdated then Not G2F anymore.... now WhitePeakEngineering sold through QT (Pedantic mod off) Very true... unfortunately there are loads of Land Rover suppliers who would simply take the punters money, and not actually sell them kit that works…. But then as stated there are people who see kit in the glossy comics and think... I need that... without having a clue what it's actually for. It get's me the number of people who fit 2" lift kits (and make their LR's handle C***) just because it looks good... and makes it look like an off roader. So it's 50 of one, 50 of another. As an off the shelf kit, I’m more than happy with mine…. And it’s not that I couldn’t make my own (especially with the kit I have at work), but it’s all about being bothered. Plus the fact, as Nige pointed out, some of the bits – for the price – are not worth making. Ian
  23. Using 90” as the wheel base (not 92.9”) My RTI (I think – didn’t write them down) 800ish forwards – 72” or thereabouts up the ramp (though I think I did get a bit further on the second day) 933 Backwards – 84” up the ramp (backwards it was further than the Scorpion Extreme kitted 90 that won) The measurements were a bit inaccurate in reality though, as there are only a few markings on the ramp – every 12” (And no tape measure used) But in saying that, Kev Baldwin may have a very accurate eye!!!! Also, my suspension had only been fitted for a week, and had all new red polybushes etc etc. Ian
  24. Or even this link Llama 4x4 website Is this your kit, or a Gwyn Lewis one?? As the pic at the top of the page is off his website?? My 90 runs 12" Procomp dampers (AFAIK) and also has a pin/pin arrangement at the back, rather than a pin/eye as when fully extended (depending on the mount) you can actually see a pin/eye arrangement bowing the damper, as it can not allow enough twist. Which is why Devon 4x4 have made a revolving damper mount AFAIK - another solution to the same problem. As mentioned, spring length doesn't allow more travel... it is just the dampers. Ian
