  1. Hi there. I guess I posted my questions too soon! My father went out to the car to do a simple test and make sure it was all hooked up right. He went to unplug the multiply from the ignition amplifier and the positive wire fell apart -.- soldered it up and boom. Pulling like a train to the rev limiter! He came out to see me today and we went out for a good run and kept knocking the advance forward bit by bit and it goes like hell now! Can't believe it was that after all the checks I've done and all the terminal ends I've replaced. Even ordered another coil as we were thinking the new Bosch one Was a dud. Guess it will be good to have a spare! Also got a set of magnecor leads comming for it I'll tell you it's so good to have it running properly at last and hear how sweet it Is!
  2. Couple of additional questions, does the coil need to be well earthed? Its just bolted to the body which is painted and the bolts on the outside are on an undersealed surface. does the ignition module need to be earthed? I see its 3 pins but only has 2 wires going to it, red and blue but no earth, is this right? does it matter that the king lead has a 90degree bend on the distributor and runs past the plug leads? hope my post gets accepted soon! would be great to get some chat going with you guys
  3. Hey guys, I'm new here! Well me and my dad have been working on a project for some time (not a land rover) Its a triumph TR8, we dropped out the 3.5 and dropped in a good 4.2 EFI engine with upgraded cam, hydraulic lifters. So we sourced a full hotwire injection system and ECU Also have an RPI engineering ECU chip installed. (from a 1995 range rover) have had various problems and wouldn't even start in the beginning. 2 minor Problems and 1 major problem. minors are idle isn't the best, a bit rough, and when driving at low rpm its very lurchy Major problem is it begins to develop a misfire after 3500rpm and by 4500 - 4800 its misfiring completely on all cylinders. Work done includes fitting a good genuine distributor (removed the knock off one with bad vac advance), brand new genuine land rover dizzy cap and rotor arm fitted today, also found HT lead was 12kohm resistance, swapped for one that was 5.8kohm. Sure now all the wiring is correct and I redone all the terminals around the coil today as I found the terminals on the 2 resistors fitted were corroded so cleaned them up and was measuring 6.2kohm on one and 6.5kohm on the other. Original coil doesn't work at all now and we got a brand new bosch the other day and my dad swears it was running brilliantly, yet when I went to see him and he took me out it was misfiring like mad and wouldn't rev past 4700rpm roughly. I measured the new bosch coil today and got 0.5 - 0.6ohms between the terminals and got 9.2kohms between a terminal and the primary. Been trying me best to help him out with this but its driving us both mad! ive found and fixed so many problems for him and its making me crazy that I cant find this one. I just want to make him happy and be able to enjoy his TR8! got an LSD fitted and everything. We also have the proper diagnostics cable and I setup roverguage on the tablet and it works beautifully, lovely bit of software! 0 fault codes and no EML light on the software. Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers, Rob
